1 MMORNUM TO: ROM: ity ouncil John L. itzwater cting ity Manager SUJT: Status Report T: ugust 25, llen Pond mphitheater On July 7, 2016, ouncil approved the concept plans for construction of a new amphitheater, restrooms and parking at llen Pond Park. uring the presentation by the ity s consultants,. Morton Thomas and ssociates, a question was raised concerning impacts to trees. The attached exhibits accurately describe the tree impacts. Impacted trees vary in size, type and condition. Sizes are designated as either small or large, with large trees further subdivided into large (>18-24 diameter at breast height), significant (>24-30 diameter at breast height), and specimen (larger than 30 diameter at breast height). The site plans on pages 1 and 2 show 103 small or poor-to-average condition trees (page 1) and six (6) large good condition trees, within the LO (limit of disturbance) that will likely require removal for this project. Pages 3-4 of the exhibit provide a detailed list of all trees, including their size, type and condition. Photos from various angles (shown on the site plans) are provided on page 5 (winter view) and 6 (summer view). Photos,,,, are in areas that will be impacted. Photo shows the area of trees not impacted. landscape plan (not yet developed) will be included in the project and that plan will provide additional trees and landscaping for buffering and aesthetics. 2. New aboose at the Railroad (RR) Museum ue to constant maintenance and upkeep issues with the RR Museum s previous caboose, the 1923 caboose was auctioned and sold in March The &O Railroad Museum donated a 1975 hessie System caboose and the ity contracted with them to do the restoration of the car. Restoration was completed in June The new caboose is scheduled to be delivered on Monday, ugust 29 th. It will be placed in the same location as the caboose that was removed. When the construction of the Old owie Heritage Trail is complete later in Y17, the caboose will be moved a short distance from its present site to become a focal point for an ducation Plaza and a viewing platform for trainspotting. ttachments
