Forestry AN IMPORTANT ASSET OF THE AMORIM BUSINESS PORTFOLIO The Alentejo and Douro Wine regions are the two Portuguese regions where Amorim undertakes its forestry and agricultural activities. The nature-related businesses, predominantly in Portugal but now also in Mozambique, have formed one of the cornerstones of the Group's activity for many years, which is proud of its contribution to the sustainable development of the economy. The beautiful region of the Douro Valley, World Heritage Site, is the area where one of the key sectors of the nature-related business of the Américo Amorim group operates, namely: wine production and wine tourism. We have two important estates in this region: Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and Quinta de S. Cibrão, which jointly cover an area of 300 hectares. PORTUGAL DOURO

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo An eighteenth century estate in the heart of Alto Douro Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo has an approximate area of 120 hectares, extending alongside the River Douro over one of its most emblematic sections. This is one of the oldest estates of the region, dating from the Pombaline era, proven by the 1768 Pombaline landmark and the eighteenth century chapel, that gives a certain nobility to the property. The magnificent vineyards of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, with excellent sun exposure, are classified with the letter A. The vineyards run alongside the winding River Douro over a distance of 1.5 Km. 4 Forestry

The Vineyards and the Wine Tradition and innovation The attitude of respect for the rich local winemaking traditions, combined with a strong commitment to innovation and the uncompromising quality of products and brands, has generated extremely positive results, resulting in the creation of some of the best table wines and ports of this demarcated region. 6 Forestry

WINE TOURISM The vineyard and wine as the source of inspiration Amorim, which is a pioneer in the development of wine tourism in Portugal and the Douro region, has an exemplary location in Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, which has already won several national and international awards. This project with the vineyard and wine as the primary sources of inspiration offers visitors a wide range of innovative recreational activities, besides wine tours and wine tasting, such as: hiking trails, wine caching, the Olive Oil Route and Nordic walking. Forestry 9

Wine Hotel Pioneering project in Portugal, winner of international awards The Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo Country Hotel was Portugal's first wine hotel. It combines architecture of strong personality with the exquisite decoration of the region, offering 11 rooms with magnificent views of the River Douro. The hotel provides an unforgettable stay in the Alto Douro Winemaking Region. The project is based in the emblematic Pinhão railway station, which is highly valued and renowned for its magnificent collection of tiles covering its main building, dating to 1937. The Wine House project occupies an area of 460 m 2 and includes a wine store, a terrace, a small museum and a room for holding events. 12 Forestry

PORTUGAL alentejo Alentejo is Portugal's most extensive and flattest region. It is here in this idyllic region that Amorim concentrates its other hub of forestry operations, namely cork production, livestock farming and hunting tourism. Cork harvesting Agriculture Livestock farming Hunting Tourism Forestry 23

24 Forestry

The business activity developed on these estates favours biodiversity. The cork oak forests provide a habitat for 135 species of plants and 160 species of birds. The forestry business of the Amorim Group is an example of sustainable development and the group's concern with climate change. The Amorim Group was one of the first members of BCSD in Portugal. CORK AND HOLM OAK The Alentejo cork oak forest and associated production activities are of increasingly vital importance in the economic and social sustainability of this vast region of Portugal. There, we focus on cork oak farming in order to harvest the cork, as well as the farming of the holm oak to make use of the acorns this tree produces, which is the food of excellence of the black pig, one of the region's sources of wealth. These activities prove to be fundamental for the conservation of dozens of animal and plant species that would otherwise run the risk of extinction.

cork harvesting Cork harvesting is the principal activity of our estates. The harvesting of cork, with all its peculiar manual processes, is a magnificent example of the ability to create wealth within a framework of environmental sustainability. This is why we endeavour to ensure a constant investment in the maintenance and renewal of the cork oak forests and the improvement of productivity. The harvesting of cork from the tree does not damage the tree. It is done every 9 years and only once the cork oak is 25-30 years old, thus ensuring the sustainability of the forest.

28 Forestry

Maritime pine and Stone pine On our estates in the Alentejo we allocate about 200 hectares for the cultivation of maritime pine and stone pine, thus contributing to the development and rejuvenation of the Portuguese forest. The production of pine cones for pine nuts is another of our activities, producing over 20 tonnes of pine nuts annually. Another component is the production of timber for use by industry. Forestry 29

OurESTATES Our estates in Alentejo offer excellent natural conditions for the production of premium quality raw materials that are transformed into traditional products highly appreciated by consumers. dried figs The soils of the Herdade Figueira Regal provide a very particular sweetness and softness to the figs produced. PINE NUT KERNELS The Herdade Vale das Mulheres estate is fertile land suitable for growing stone pines to produce pine cones and tender, fresh and aromatic pine nuts. ALMOND KERNELS Under the influence of the Alentejo climate and soil, almonds from the Herdade do Panasquinho estate have unique quality characteristics. Walnut Kernels The Herdade da Figueira estate is located in a privileged area due to the hot and humid climate of Alto Alentejo. HONEY Peral is an extensive area of varied flora, giving this product a unique flavour. Cured Sheep's Cheese Cheese made from raw sheep's milk. It is a hard cheese with the particular flavour of Alentejo pastures. 30 Forestry

AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK FARMING Wheat, rye and barley We allocate a portion of our territory for dry farming, about 1,500 hectares, in addition to that set aside for cork oaks and cork harvesting. The dry farming crops are lucerne, sorghum, oats and mixtures of grasses and pulses. Cattle We set aside about 130 hectares for the production of fodder to feed more than 700 head of cattle. This is one of the supplementary activities of the estates in Alentejo. Forestry 33

Olive growing Farming in Alentejo and the Douro Region The cultivation and harvesting of olive groves is also one of the cornerstones of our activities related to Nature. We have several hectares of the properties we own in Alentejo and the Douro Region set aside for this purpose. Of particular note in the Douro are the Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and Quinta de S. Cibrão estates, that already have a long tradition of producing excellent quality olive oil. 34 Forestry

HERDADE DO PERAL LANDSCAPE, HUNTING AND TOURISM 36 Forestry

Herdade do Peral covers an area of 5,500 hectares, making it one of the largest estates of Alentejo. Endowed with a large diversity of species such as deer, fallow deer, rabbits, hares, wild boar, partridge and woodcock, among others, it also offers visitors to the region the services of a country hotel of excellence. 38 Forestry

Tourism ecotourism The landscape, unique natural beauty, and the estates all give added value and provide huge potential for tourism, which we undertake in conjunction with the hunting possibilities that we provide to the market. Herdade do Peral is close to the city of Évora, the capital of Alentejo and a World Heritage Site, with a rich artistic and architectural heritage, making it a worthwhile place to visit. 40 Forestry

country hotel monte da figueira ecotourism The Monte da Figueira Country Hotel is located on the Peral estate. It has a magnificent surrounding landscape, overlooking the lake and the cultivated fields. It has well preserved traditional architecture of great heritage value. The single-storey buildings follow an organic sequence, with whitewashed walls decorated with ochre and galleries with thick and low arches. The pillared porches and walled patios are also typical features of the region s architecture. The possibilities for ecotourism lovers are countless, such as hiking or trails on horseback to enjoy the beauty of the landscape, long walks, or canoeing. Forestry 43

Mozambique ZAMBEZIA Amorim has broadened its portfolio of investments in the Republic of Mozambique from activities in strategic sectors, such as banking and energy, to the agricultural sector, specifically to soybean farming.

Soybeans plantation in GuruÉ district Mozambique As part of its commitment to diversified investments in Mozambique, Amorim has started an important and promising agricultural activity in Uacua, in the locality of Nintulo Gurué district, in the inland northern region of the country, through its stake in the Agromoz - Agribusiness de Moçambique agricultural company. The project will be implemented on a vast estate of approximately 17,000 hectares, and it has already started the production of soybeans for food.
