HANNON S STUDIO a w o r k s p a c e o f i n s t r u c t i o n, e x p e r i m e n t a t i o n, & p r a c t i c e 1) Pop popcorn so you have about 10-12 cups. It depends on the marshmallow/popcorn ratio you like. Pick out ALL the kernels that didn t pop. If you don t you will need serious dental work after fi nding one when eating this popcorn treat. It no longer becomes a treat and people want to hurt you. Did I mention getting out all of the kernels? Trust me on this. 2) You ll need 1 bag of marshmallows (don t get crazy on the ounces, just pick up a standard bag) and 1 cube of butter. Do not use something else besides butter. Yuck! This is a treat for crying out loud. Okay, you can cut down the butter to about half but that s it! (Seems like I did that once, don t remember ever doing it again.) 3) Melt the marshmallows and butter in a microwave bowl. For 45 seconds, then whatever is needed after that. 4) Stir it up and add to the popped popcorn. This is the gentle part. You don t want to crush all your popcorn. Go to the outer edge, lift under the popcorn and turn. Do not do this when you have just had a fi ght with a family member. Remember gently. 5) Lay this mixture out on a platter if you are serving it party style OR you could get cellophane and spread little mounds of the mixture on the cello. Then you bring up the edges of the cello (after you ve fi nished the chocolate and nut additions) and tie with a ribbon and add a cute tag. Instant gifts. And you can do those a couple of days in advance and it doesn t hurt the treat. 6) Chop up the dark chocolate almond bark. Melt it in a little dish in the microwave. Start with 15 seconds. Stir. If you don t stir you might not know it s melted. And then you ll burn it. This stuff burns easily. Then use 10 second intervals after that if needed. Drizzle in zigzag motions on the popcorn. 7) Do the same with the white almond bark after the dark is done. Melt. Stir. Test. Don t Burn. Drizzle. If you melt the white and dark at the same time the waiting chocolate starts to harden. Then you re bound to burn it trying to reheat it. 8) Drizzle the amount of chocolate you might like. I did a little too much on this batch. Though is there really such a thing as too much chocolate? Drizzle dark fi rst then white. It just looks a little prettier with the white on dark on white. 9) Spread sliced almonds on the wet chocolate. It will stick this way and stay in place. You could stick other stuff instead of almonds, like toffee bits, crushed candy, mini chips, whatever. Any combination you like. Just no sticking kids to it. Oh, okay go ahead with the kids. 11) This is a great treat when you have forgotten that you have to take a treat somewhere. And everyone thinks that you have gone through great efforts for them. Which you have, just bitesized efforts. 10) There you go. Done. ShannonsStudio.com 2010 Shannon Christensen 4
