Blanville Domaine Vineyard
Overview Location Château Haut-Blanville is a 12,0 hect. vineyard planted in a limestone very rocky soil, at around 300 m of altitude, 20 km from the Méditerranée sea. Located on the East side of the Saint-Pargoire village, the vineyard provides a breathtaking view of the Cévennes (North), The Pyrennées, and the Sea. The cultivated red grapes are : syrah, black grenache, mourvèdre, carignan, white grenache, roussanne, and vermentino. The Limestone terroir of the vineyard coupled with the Sea sprays give a lot of freshness and minerality to the wines. Like all BLANVILLE Domaines, the vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of «sustainable agronomy» Château Haut-Blanville produces 40 000 bottles of Grès de Montpellier wines and 20.000 bottles of white wine. Vineyard profile Vineyard profile Terroir : very rocky limestone soil of 12,0 hectares of vines sourrounded by garrigue plants, (a low, soft-leaved scrubland plant found in Mediterranean regions), at 300 m of altitude overseeing the Mediterranée sea Age of vines : 20 years on average Grape variety : syrah, black grenache, carignan, white grenache, roussanne, vermentino Planting density : 5.000 vinestock / hectare Environmental integrity : natural, sustainable agronomy Cultivation and harvesting : royat cut, pruning, several plowing of soil per year, debudding in spring, thinning by hand, manual harvest Vinification : Done per parcel and varietal, pre-fermentation cold maceration performed, temperature controlled vats used, slow vatting done over a period of 3 to 5 weeks (depending on the vintage characteristics) Ageing : Wines are aged in barrels per parcel and varietal Blending and natural decanting : At the end of the barrel raising period, the wine is blended with the corresponding parcels and varietals, it is then decanted naturally for several months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. Aging in bottles : Wines are aged in the cellar for a minimum of 6 months
