Gateway Academy Harbison 450 Columbiana Drive Columbia, SC 29212 803-749-9553 Gail Skipper, Director Monday and Tuesday 8:00 5:00 Wednesday and Thursday 9:30 6:30 Carmen Scipio, Assistant Monday and Tuesday 9:30 6:30 Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 5:00 Alternate Fridays It s that time of the year again and we are gearing up for our Annual Fall Festival! Get ready for this fun time for the entire family. Join us on Friday, October 21st from 7:00 8:30pm, right here at Gateway Academy-Harbison. Bring the family in costume and have fun in our Gateway Game Place. Several of our classrooms will have games to be played by the children. A photo booth will be available as well. We will also have our Trunk or Treat, which involves letting the children collect candy and treats from the decorated trunks, truck beds and SUV hatches of several Gateway families. If you are willing to serve as a Trunk or Treat host, please talk to Gail or Carmen. We will also have a light meal/snack and so much more. As always, please feel free to bring along neighbors, relatives or friends to join in on the fun! Watch your email inbox, Facebook and the lobby for more details! We will be accepting donations of candy which we ll give to the families who will decorate their vehicles for Trunk or Treat and hope you can help us. Please make sure that any that you donate is nutfree.

Notes From the Director I am so very excited for my favorite month of all...october! The beautiful fall colors are beginning to show outside and we have a month packed full of fun! Our annual Fall Festival is planned for the Friday October 21st. We encourage you and your children to come dressed in your best Halloween costume, Do not send children to school that day wearing their costumes, but come back in the evening ready to surprise us all. This is to ensure that your costumes stay in excellent condition for the Festival and your family s celebrations later in the week. The festival will be from 7:00 8:30 p.m. Naturally, we need LOTS of parent support for this event. If you would like to assist our Trunk or Treat by donating wrapped candy or decorating your car or SUV, please let us know as soon as possible. Our school will provide a light dinner and drinks during the Festival. We can t wait to see you all there! We will be having our picture days on Tuesday-Friday, October 11 14 for individual and sibling pictures. These will be taken at school during the morning school hours. The Laugh Out Loud photographers will bring outfits to put on your child. It is a Kool Kids motif. The pictures last year were great! They will return in the afternoons, from 3 6 p.m. so you can view your child s picture. All families get a free water bottle with your child s picture, JUST FOR VIEWING.so please take time to do that! So much to do this month, but fun and filled with learning for your child. We will continue our Reflections, School to Home piece, allowing you to have activities to reinforce at home what your child learns throughout the days at Gateway. Hold on to your hat! It s going to be a busy month and leading into an even busier season. For All The Children, Ms. Gail Our Promise To You We provide parents with peace of mind by providing an exceptional education every fun-filled day in a place as nurturing as home.

She would have celebrated 15 years on the staff of Gateway the next day, October 9th. Our celebration of her anniversary quickly turned into a celebration of her life! Her personality showed us how a person could be giving, caring, loving and dedicated to families and more importantly to the children of Gateway Academy! Her celebration brought many Alumni families back to Gateway to say thank you for loving us! We miss her daily! She is still her with us in spirit. Many of our nicknames are still used! That was her endearing signature! The Magnolia tree in the playground is blooming again! Our constant memory of you, Monica! We will all be wearing a flower in our hair on Friday, October 7th. We invite all of you to join us. If you didn t know her, you missed knowing a great person, teacher, mother and friend! We love that our staff make Gateway their home away from home! Celebrate with us that Ms. Coeran, an Infant teacher has been with Gateway for 3 years AND Ms. Gail joined our Staff 3 years ago as our Director! These two ladies started the exact same day and are dedicated to loving children, families and early childhood education! Let them know how much you appreciate them!
