SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED New Requirements Make It Easier to Become a Sub Bremen Public Schools is seeking qualified individuals who are willing to serve students as substitute teachers. The qualifications are as follows: Must possess an Indiana Substitute Teacher s License Hold a high school diploma Be 18 years of age See https://www.doe.in.gov/licensing/ substitute-permits Be available during school hours Pass a criminal history background check Pass a drug screening Substitutes at BPS earn a daily rate of $70. CHRISTMAS BREAK December 22-January 5 There will be no school on Friday, December 22 through Friday, January 5 in observance of Christmas. School will resume on Monday, January 8, 2018. The plan is to have two age groups, 3rd/4th combined, and 5th/6th combined. We will practice and play on Saturday afternoons, tentatively starting on January 13th and running for 5 consecutive weeks. The league will be organized by the high school coaching staff. More information is attached to today s bulletin. 2ND GRADING PERIOD The second quarter grading period ended on December 21st. Report cards will be sent out on January 12th. CHRISTMAS BREAK FUN FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES AT BREMEN PUBLIC LIBRARY It s not always easy to find free activities for children and young adults. Bremen Public Library is here to help! During Christmas Break, we have three events planned that will be sure to take away the winter blues. Christmas Coloring: Saturday, Dec. 23, 10:00-2:00 Join the creative craze! Stop by the Children s Room at your leisure for this special holiday edition of Color Your World. Themed books will be featured as well as festive tunes for relaxation and auditory delight. Coloring generates wellness, quietness and also stimulates brain areas related to motor skills and sensory processing. All ages invited. Supplies provided. Brick Club Geeky Crafts: Friday, Dec. 29, 11:00-5:30 Both practical and retro, these crafts range from quick and easy to challenging designs that will satisfy even the experienced builder. Projects include, but are not limited to: Space Invader Savers, Rubber Ducky, Flying Ducks, Zombie Pencil Holder, Floppy Disk Coasters, Cassette Letter Holder, Sword-in-the- Stone Paperweight, Lady Liberty, Dice, Giant key Holder, Robot Bottle Holder. Young adults, children and families are encouraged to join us for this time of imagination. We will use LEGO bricks to study concepts via themes, develop math and science skills, work in teams and have fun! Wii Gaming: Thursday, Jan. 4: 1:00-2:30 Show off your skills and get ready for some friendly competition as we gather to participate in Wii gaming! All ages invited to participate.

Bremen Youth Basketball League The High School Boys and Girls basketball programs will be running a youth league this winter. We will practice and play on Saturday afternoons, and all games and practices will be held in the Bremen Middle or High school gyms. Our plan is to have 2 separate leagues: 3rd/4th Grade (Boys & Girls combined) 5th/6th Grade (Boys Only) The league will run for 5 consecutive weeks, starting on Saturday January 13 th and concluding on February 10th. The kids will be placed on teams, and each team will have a coach that will be with them for the entire season. Your child will practice with his or her team for approx. 45 mins prior to their game time each Saturday. The cost will be $20 per player. Marshall County 4-H offers both Mini and Regular 4-H! Mini 4-H is for youth in grades K-2. Youth can enroll in up to 2 mini projects and learn the basics of 4-H Regular 4-H is for youth in grades 3-12. Youth can be involved in 4-H for 10 years, and can choose as many projects as they would like from our list of over 80 projects! HOW TO JOIN? It is easy!
