Company History About us Plantrich Organics is more than just organic - it is a philosophy, a passion and a strongly held belief that food is an extension of life. Plantrich Organics was founded in 2016 by Mr. Anand Jose, who was born and raised on an organic farm in Kerala, South India. From a young age, Anand learned from his father and grandparents about the basics of nature, plants, insects, soil structure, conservation of water, soil erosion and organic farming - truly living a field-to-home lifestyle, where days revolve around beautiful family, farming and living off the land. During school holidays Anand used to visit different relatives, staying at their home as their cheeky pet and pest. Along with his Grandparents & Great Grandparents he spent time walking with them on their farms that grew coco, coconut, cashews, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, coffee, turmeric and various fruits & trees!! Listening to their stories & walking with them Anand watched the birds & squirrels eating the fruits (mangos, cocoa), bats drinking honey from the flower of the bananas and many parts of nature's vibrancy throughout his childhood. This experience provided Anand with the foundation of who he is today & the inspiration to create the Plantrich brand. Anand's mum's family lived on a fairly big farm with about 8 different types of mango varieties - sizes varying from the size of a golf ball to the size of a rock melon. Other fruits ranging from small mulberry to big fruits like jackfruits (8 different types of fruits and their sub-varieties with different flavors too!!) where also part of the ecosystem & with most being harvested during the summer. Even during the school holidays Anand was up early in the morning climbing the trees to eat the organic fruits at height of their freshness, before the sun and parrots, squirrels and other hungry birds!! Waking early to eat the fruits meant that Anand beat his grandfather and his little cousins to choose the day's best fruits! 5
During the peak season, Anand's family would pick the fruits with fruit nets and keep the fruit in the smoke rooms for natural and even ripening. Once ripened they would make purees for making jams, jellies, toppings for homemade ice cream as well as sun dried fruit bars for the next season!! These childhood memories have stayed with Anand and as he now sees chemical farming in his homeland which is changing the rich experiences of his own youth for today's children. He is determined and passionate about playing his part in restoring the land & bringing back the richness of food and experience through Plantrich. Coming to Australia in 2008, Anand has seen an opportunity to be a contributor to the enrichment of his homeland and the lives of people who will enjoy traditional organic & natural Indian food - the result is Plantrich Foods. 6
