Growers of Bareroot Shade, Flowering and Ornamental Trees 2017/2018

To Our Valued Customers, Does it seem like yesterday that you opened the cover of last year s catalog to view what would be said, and we are here again? Thank you for this past year s business and to so many of you for your years of trust in John Holmlund Nursery. Reflecting on our past years of business with you, it becomes very evident of how blessed we are to have faithful customers and employees. Looking forward to the future, we allow the past to channel our thoughts on how loyal you have been as customers and we will continue striving to be the same. The positive change in demand for shade trees has made it difficult to meet all of your tree needs, which we regret. We are attempting to communicate with you as early as possible what we can supply. The last two years have been a wonderful growing environment and our trees performed very well. This year s crop is primed for another excellent growing season and we are working to those ends. Given the positive response to the demand in bagged trees, we are adding additional numbers in some varieties and attempting to grow other items that seem to perform well in the bags. If you are not aware of this product please contact your Account Manager for more information. With great respect and thankfulness for you, I wish to say thank you once more. Sincerely, John Holmlund

Crateagus Hawthorn Crataegus Laevigata Pauls Scarlet Special Care of Hawthorns To prevent delayed bud break of Hawthorn: The plants should be laid down and covered with packing material until they break bud. Temperature should be above that of refrigerated storage. Early planting in cold, wet soil and before bud break occurs may throw some or all of the trees into a deep dormancy that may last all summer. This condition combined with hot sun can result in fatal dehydration. Repeated cutting back of dried wood may help prevent loss. With repeat watering, trees usually leaf out in time. Also, it is very important that the fine hair roots of Hawthorn not be allowed to dry even for a brief time before planting. Crataegus Crusgalli Crusader Royalty.50 crusgalli inermis cv.
