I hope you have had a great Easter holiday and enjoyed the sunshine and good weather we have had in evon. All the children have settled back into school really well this week and have been getting on with new learning projects. As always in the summer term, there are lots of things to look forward to, including residential visits for Years 3 to 6, lots of sports activities and being able to play outside on the school fields. It should be a great term for everyone! TART OF CHOOL AY The school day starts in all three Exe Valley Federation schools at 9.00am and children should be in their classrooms, ready to learn at this time. Children arriving after 9.00am will be given a late mark. Registers are closed and returned to the school offices at 9.0am and children who arrive after that will be marked as late after the registers have closed, which is recorded as an unauthorised absence. If you do arrive late at school for any reason, please make sure that the office staff know that your child has arrived and that their lunch arrangements are sorted out. Attendance data is reported to you at the end of the year with your child s school report and is monitored by Heads of chool and Mr Jolliffe. If your child s attendance drops significantly, further action may be taken by schools to work together to bring about an improvement. Please help your child make the most of their learning time by being at school in good time every day. Thank you.
Cheriton Fitzpaine Primary chool UMMER NEW 06 Week FROM MR HARRI ear Friends Welcome back to a glorious summer term. I do hope you have all had a restful and relaxing Easter break and enjoyed some sunshine. The children have all returned to school with a fantastic attitude to their learning. It is always lovely on the first day of a new term to visit the classes and see all the children settled so immediately well to their learning. This half term Beech class learning will be focussing their learning on the econd World War this is usually a topic which is of interest to the children, parents and grandchildren and so if you would like to come in and talk about your family s connection with the war or if indeed you have an artefacts to share with the class then please do let Miss Bellamy or Mrs Carpenter know. In Oak class their topic is the Blue Abyss a topic about Oceans which I am sure all the animal lovers in Oak class will particularly enjoy. In Ash class the children s topic is A cented Garden and in Maple their topic is reflections; another interesting topic. A warm Cheriton Fitzpaine welcome to Miss Keenor a student teacher from the University of Plymouth who will be teaching alongside Mr Hookway in Ash class until July this year. As I am sure most of you are aware the Khan family from Poughill lost everything in a house fire. The community have all been working together to support the Khan family at this devastating time. Our Year 4 children are looking forwards to their trip to Beam House in Torrington next week. I am confident they will all have a tremendous time. Finally, our intrepid group of walkers are all heading off for a 0 mile practice walk on Exmoor this weekend prior to the actual Exmoor challenge on 9 th April. Kind regards GLYNI HARRI Help the Khans Rebuild their Lives As you will probably have already heard, one of our families has been struck by tragedy this Easter weekend. Rio and Cengiz s family home burnt down early on unday morning, leaving them with nothing but the nightclothes they were wearing. The family currently have no permanent home, no furniture, no possessions, no clothes, no toys for the children, no school uniform However, we can help.. Bake ale and Prize raw Friday, 8 th April 3pm-4pm at school All donations of delicious homemade baked goods welcome. Please bring your donations to the school office on the morning of 8 th April. If you would prefer not to bake, then please donate a draw prize instead. All proceeds will go to the family to help them start to replace some of the things so tragically lost.. et up by Katie Haslehurst, The GoFundMe campaign is called "Help the Khans rebuild" and is taking cash donations. https://www.gofundme.com/help-the-khans-rebuild 3.
