J U L Y 2 0 1 6 Tedako Preschool Newsletter We love our Bikes! Our children love our playground path! It is made of a rubber chip surface so that there is less injury from the impact of falls. The children zoom around and around on foot and on various wheels as fast as they can. Some children like to race, and others like to pretend they are driving a car to the store or riding a horse on the push cars. The tricycles are great exercise and the children learn to petal and increase coordination. The children all learn to petal and steer the trikes very quickly. Riding the scooters are a bigger balance and coordination challenge, but they all learn to do it successfully in Nuuji class. All of these gross motor activities for preschool age children because it develops muscular strength and endurance, body awareness, and coordination, but most of all they love it because it is fun! Save the Date! Kugani/ Shinka July 8 th Kugani and Shinka class children will play in the indoor play area and ball pits! DID YOU KNOW STUDIES HAVE LINKED ROLE-PLAY TO EMPTHAY? Children who engage in role play were more skilled at judging how other people feel. Addtionally, children are stregnthing his or her language and social skills, from negioiating you be the bunny, and I ll be the mouse, to storytelling let s pretend!. Check out the role play that has been going on at Tedako this month! I see tedako teachers and children engaged in play everyday!
Dinasour Park Field Trip On June 24 th, the Kugani and Shinka classes went on a field trip to Dinosaur Park, in Nago. There were many different kinds of dinosaurs in the jungle. It felt as if we had stepped back into the age of dinosaurs. Some children were afraid of the dinosaurs at first however, they started having fun once they found some cute baby dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs. The children enjoyed trying to see who could spot the dinosaurs first, it became a game for them! After this field trip, we ve noticed that children have been playing with the dinosaur toys much more. When we asked them, What are you making? they said, It s a dinosaur park! Dinosaur Park left a lasting impression on them!!
