LETTER FROM THE CEO Tea, originated in China, has been a common beverage for many centuries due to its rich tradition and many health benefits. Popularity of tea has spread to the U.S. and many well-recognized beverage corporations have embraced tea into their product offerings. As demand for tea continues to grow, many U.S. companies are engaged to capture consumer sales and business opportunities. Within the growing tea industry, there is an emerging specialty category called Bubble Tea also known as boba tea, invented in Taiwan in the 1980s, a tea base mixed/shaken with fruit or milk, to which chewy tapioca balls (known as pearls or boba) and fruit jelly are often added. The bubble tea phenomenon has spread to the U.S. from Asia and is capturing consumer interest and emerging as a popular beverage of choice. Gong Cha, founded in 2006 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is an international beverage franchise, specialized in Tea, Coffee, Juice, with more than 1,500 stores across 18 different countries worldwide, serving premium quality drinks and commanding stellar reputation. Gong Cha is focused on accelerating its growth to more countries and has a great business model and track record to sustain its success. Gong Cha USA, founded in 2012, is the California master franchisor who is driven to continue the successful business model and establish and expand operations throughout the state. About Gong Cha Gong Cha is an act of offering supreme quality teas to the Emperor in ancient China, known as Royal Tea. Originating in Taiwan in 2006, Gong Cha is now a successful international beverage brand and franchise specializing in Tea, Coffee and Juice, famous for its milk foam and bubble pearl toppings! Gong Cha has 1,500 stores (and counting) globally! When the first franchise store opened in Hong Kong in 2009, catering to customers outside of Taiwan, it proved the international recognition of the brand and its successful business model. In Korea, Gong Cha was named the best bubble tea store in 2014, with over 200 stores just 2 years after its launch. In the United States, Gong Cha opened its first store in California in 2013. Since then, we ve rapidly increased our customer following and have opened 16 stores in California plus 17 in New York, New Jersey and Texas to keep up with the demand for our quality drinks and stellar reputation. The brand has continued its growth because of its reputation for serving the highest quality tea and ingredients, appealing to customers of all ages with its customizable beverage selection. Our current location in Northern California includes Fremont, Newark, Palo Alto, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Sacramento, Folsom and Davis.
