We reserve the right to make minor changes in stock if some species of trees become unavailable. We will accept orders through March 19, 2012 or until our supply is exhausted. The seedlings are bare root stock. Each packet is dipped into a preservative gel to keep the roots moist and then placed into a plastic bag. The seedlings should be planted as quickly as possible after pick up to assure their vitality. Seedlings are 2 to 4 years old. Each packet can easily be carried in one hand. Several packets will fit into an ordinary paper grocery bag. If you are unable to pick up your seedlings, please send someone or phone the office at 513-695-1337 to make special pick up arrangements. Orders not picked up within one week after the original pick up dates will be considered abandoned. A phone call to our office will usually result in a satisfactory alternate pick up plan. *The District is unable to guarantee or refund money for plants which do not survive under any circumstances. (Individual flags may be purchased on tree pick up dates for $.25 each.) $10.00 per bundle of 50 Care of Seedlings on Arrival Tree seedlings require water and cool temperatures to survive until planted. If you intend to plant the trees within 2 days, keep them in the package in a cool or shaded location. If planting will be delayed longer than 2 days, open the package and make sure the roots and packing material are damp. Reseal and store the package in a cool place, periodically checking the condition of the trees roots. Do not allow the roots to dry out. The longer you wait to plant the trees, the fewer the number that will survive, regardless of the care given in storage. Large Shade / Ornamental #406 Beech American Beech (Fagus grandifolia) The American beech is a tall and wide tree. The mature tree size is anywhere from 90 to 100 feet tall, and spreads 50 to 70 feet. The bark that grows on the tree is very smooth, pale and gray. Large Shade / Ornamental #411 Thornless Honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos) A fast growing ( tree when young ) growing 2 or more a year over a 10-year period. This deciduous tree is tolerant of drought conditions, high ph, and is salt tolerant. They are an excellent lawn tree for filtered shade. The fine small textured leaves casts a light shade and usually do not need raking in the fall. Height 50 60 2 foot seedlings $8.00 per pack of 5 #412- Oak Swamp White (Quercus bicolor) This tree is much like that of the white oak in appearance but naturally grows in wet, heavy, clay soils. The leaves are wavy, dark green, shiny above with grayish fuzz beneath. The acorn occurs in pairs requiring only one season to mature. The wood is hard, strong, tough and used for similar purposes as the true white oak. 50-80 ft. at maturity. It can have one or more trunks, each a foot wide. The leaves of this tree grow to four inches long and two inches wide. They are simple leaves with a pointed tip and teeth on the edges. These leaves turn orangish-red in the Fall. and are usually an understory tree, meaning they grow beneath larger trees, such as oaks and maples.
