I had visited Fort Walton Beach a very long time ago and of course have since driven across I-10 over the years from Florida to westbound cities, but it has been a long time since I have gotten to play tourist. I forgot how beautiful it is! Sugary sandy beaches and further inland, acres and acres nothing but wooded forests. So refreshing! Since I like to explore, we took a county road from I-10 just east of Tallahassee straight down to the coast and drove along the coast route of the panhandle of Florida. It is a slow drive and sometimes rather boring but you get to see a little more along the way such as towns like Port St Joe, FL. A small fi shing town that is very nostalgic In the town s heyday it was once the capital of the county seat and was also the fi shing leading in the area. Now, the town is best know now for; Cape St. Blas Lighthouse and a great place to get Appalachian oysters. (continued on Page 03)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Sift together the fl our, salt and baking soda; set aside. 2. Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar until fl uffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and milk. Add the fl our mixture; mix well. Shape into 40 balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffi n pan. 3. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from pan.

Further along the coastal drive of the panhandle you will encounter the cities of: Panama City, Santa Rosa, Fort Walton Beach, Navarre Beach, Pensacola, and Gulf Breeze. If you don t watch it, you might make the same mistake we did, we drove right across the state border into Alabama not intending to! The moment I saw the famous restaurant Flora-Bama I knew where we were! For most southerners this is well known restaurant and a place that you must stop by if you are in the local area! For a place to get back to nature, camping or just to spend a quiet day at the beach check out St. Andrews State Park which is located outside of Panama City Beach.
