Home Journal May 25th, 2018 Hello, Everyone.and happy Friday! There will be a Memorial Day service at the congregate building on Monday. It will begin at 4:00pm and will most likely be held in the activity area, given the current forecast. A chicken BBQ is on the menu for dinner and Duel performs at 6:30pm what a great evening! Nice work, Chuck, regarding the flowers in the front of the congregate building. The additions certainly create an inviting atmosphere when approaching the building. I am happy to welcome Terri and Sarah to our Resident Assistant team. They began their tenure very recently and I look forward to our working together. Merle G., I want to wish you a smooth transition to your new home next week. Your quiet kindness and warm smile will surely be missed. I sincerely hope you visit us from time to time and we will do the same for you. Thank you in advance, Bob G., Bob W., and the American Legion Post 20 for helping us plan a meaningful Memorial Day event. I look forward to it. ~ Kevin Chuck is on call May 28th Our Lake Forest Website www.onlakeforest.org www.facebook.com/lake ForestSeniorCommunity

Our Lake Forest Residents News, Comments, Etc... Personal musings by Mary Lue I spend a lot of time in my comfortable chair thinking of a lot of things. This past Saturday I was thinking of the fact that I was alone. That is the day my daughter usually spends time here with me, helping me with all sorts of things. But this weekend she and her husband were in Rochester to bring their daughter Sarah home from college for the summer. My daughter is such a blessing. She writes my checks for me, keeps my check book in order, does my laundry, goes shopping for me. I used to go with her, but it got to be too tiring, so now I hand her my list and my wallet, and she does it all, even down to putting the groceries away when she gets back and loosens the jar lids that are too tight for me. I am very blessed to have such a helpful daughter who lives nearby. I am not alone in that I see quite a few other residents who have caring daughters, and I am sure they feel just as blessed as I do. Last week I turned a year older and had a very nice birthday at my daughter s house. I want to share with you the lovely birthday card she gave me. I think the sentiments in the card will resonate with all of you. Here it is. On the cover of the card- Mom, even when I was younger, I knew these things for sure. You loved me no matter what. You cared about what was going on in my life. And you were always there for me... On the inside of the card- And now I hope you know that you can count on me for those very same things. Always. I love you mom. Isn t that lovely? Good daughters are really a blessing.. I think of all of you who have good daughters and agree. And now, a touch of silliness to leave with you. Families are like fudge, some are sweet and some are full of nuts! Keep smiling! - Mary Lue
This Wednesday the 30th the 6:30 movie is- The Intern. Starting a new job can be a difficult challenge, especially if you're already retired. Looking to get back into the game, 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. Ben soon becomes popular with his younger co-workers, including Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the boss and founder of the company. Whittaker's charm, wisdom and sense of humor help him develop a special bond and growing friendship with Jules. The first and second week of June, maintenance will be power washing the duplexes and the main building. ~ Chuck Thank you to everyone who came to see the Senior Serenaders perform this past Thursday. They were great! Thank you to Gib Brown for coming to present information on climate change this past Monday. I ve already had several people say they want him to come back. Do you have any topic suggestions that I can bring up to him? If so, please let me know. ~ Vicki Please note, there s a sheet on the bulletin board for people to put their song suggestions for Ed Schenk.
