We are still on the smoothie train over here and going through record amounts (for us) of spinach and frozen fruit and bananas. And I am loving it. Especially when we pour our creamy and thick smoothies into a bowl and top them with crunchy Quaker Real Medleys SuperGrains Blueberry Pecan Granola. Have you tried this new granola from Quaker? I m over here eating it straight out of the bag for a snack and it was all I could do on my way home from Walmart the other day not to break open the bag and eat it then and there. Tell me you do this? You can find new Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola in the cereal aisle at your local Walmart. Go grab a bag and meet me back here so we can talk all things smoothie bowls.
Here s what I ve learned. If you start your day by drinking blended fruit and spinach, then no matter what follows, you ve already won the day. Hypothetically, say you spend the rest of the day online shopping for dresses you don t really need and watching One Tree Hill on Netflix because that s easier than wondering when you get to go to the Philippines? Well you had spinach and crunchy whole grains for breakfast, so you are still ahead! On the adoption front, we are currently waiting for our son s visa to be issued. We are able to track the progress using a special code through the State Department s website. Every morning, after my coffee and while I enjoy my smoothie, I pull up the website, enter the code, and wait the heartbeat it takes for the screen to pop up. Here s what s so fun. The only information given is whether the case has been updated. So it will say Status Updated Date 16-Mar 2016. BUT IT DOESN T SAY WHY. Because they called to cancel the appointment, because they had the appointment, because he passed the medical appointment, because the orphanage had a question, why won t you give any details?!?! Hence why I m justifying all the Netflix watching and stress online shopping with healthy smoothie bowls. Thankfully the Philippines is 12 hours ahead and it makes sense to look only once a day. I m not driving myself completely insane. Yet.
I can feel you looking at these pictures and wondering what s wrong with food bloggers and why anyone would put their smoothie in a bowl? Well, friend, I ll tell you. 1) Because smoothie bowls are so pretty. Look at the happy fruit all in a line! 2) Smoothie bowls are much more photogenic than smoothies in mason jars. 3) It s a little like a visit to the frozen yogurt shop with all that fresh fruit and crunchy Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola on top. A smoothie bowl is basically just a smoothie that you ve poured into a bowl with the one exception that it s a little thicker more spoonable, less sippable. And much more fun. Our current smoothie routine is as follows. Each night I set out the blender and all the smoothie mix-ins and each morning Garrett blends us up a different smoothie concoction. So I wake up a little while (a few hours) later, have some coffee, and then eat my smoothie breakfast. This is the longest stretch of my adult life I can remember having breakfast basically every morning especially breakfast with spinach and crunchy whole grains. For this Triple Berry Pecan Crunch Smoothie Bowl, frozen berries, fresh spinach, a spoonful of greek yogurt, and a fresh banana are blended into a creamy, thick concoction and poured into a bowl. Then we top it with a generous handful of Quaker Real Medleys SuperGrains Blueberry Pecan Granola and some of that extra fresh fruit we have in the fridge. Real Medleys SuperGrains Blueberry Pecan Granola is a blend of seeds, nuts, whole grains, and dried blueberries filled with fiber, ALA omega-3 and whole grains. It s crunchy, sweet perfection! I can t get enough of the creamy fruit and yogurt combo with the crunchy, delicious Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola and sweet fresh fruit. This is my new favorite way to start the day.
