Recommended ranging by style We know that in drinkers will drink less or leave if their preferred style is not available, and that their overall beer knowledge is minimal, all cask ale line ups should be ranged by Amber Gold Dark based on consumer preference and volume performance by style Earn an extra, per year Amber is the preferred ale style for cask drinkers, followed by gold, then dark. x 9 Gallons x 9 Gallons 6 x 9 Gallons 8 x 9 Gallons A pub doing 6 casks a week that does not range properly is missing out on anything between 7 & 9 pints per week. What would you do if your preferred ale style wasn t available? Stay & drink less of another ale/ drink. A pub doing at least x 9G a week should extend that range, considering what we know to be the most popular styles. Amber should be hand pull one, and gold hand pull two. 6 x 9G or more suggests a popular cask ale venue. A good range across style will appeal to regulars and new visitors. We suggest utilising dark ales if you have the right throughput it provides the biggest differentiation in flavour compared to amber & golden. Doing over 8 x 9G of cask ale allows the pub to explore more options however considerations should be made for an offer that will suit the most drinkers.. - Average Price Per Pint of Cask Ale in the UK.
