Civil Weddings... Knights Hall Eden Room A guide to Civil Ceremonies Once the date has been chose with the hotel, contact the Registrar at Bishop Auckland Register Office to confirm that they can conduct the Ceremony on your chosen date. A notice of marriage can be made up to 12 months in advance and a provisional booking up to 24 months in advance of the wedding date. On your wedding day the Registrars will arrive and meet the Groom approximately 20 minutes before the Ceremony. The Ceremony itself takes between 20 and 30 minutes, please note that no food or drink can be consumed in the room where the Ceremony takes place for one hour prior to or during the Ceremony. Guests will then leave the room for approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours when reception drinks ect. will be served and photographs taken during which time the room will be re-set for the wedding breakfast.
