1 ORDINARY BROTHERS EXTRAORDINARY BEERS 4505 Literally translated from its German roots, gasthaus means guest house. As early as 1158 A.D, the gasthaus was employed; typically being a family-owned and operated establishment where travelers could stay overnight, board their horse, get a good, hot meal and of course, a beer. The Widmer Gasthaus is a modern day version of this very established German tradition, black complete with an old-world feel. Take a minute to relax and enjoy great German and Central European-inspired food and extraordinary Widmer Brothers beer. The building that houses the Widmer Gasthaus is the combination of the McKay Building (built 1887) and the Smithson Building (built 1890). The two buildings were occupied by businesses on the street level and apartments on the upper level, where shipbuilders working on Swan Island stayed. Brewed since 1986, Hefeweizen (meaning yeast wheat in German) is purposefully cloudy in appearance due to live yeast in suspension. The yeast and Cascade hops deliver complex citrus aromas and flavors, and a crisp, refreshing finish. Gold medal winner at both GABF and World Beer Cup. Hopped with Summit, Alchemy, and Nelson Sauvin hops, with the Summit hops as the primary flavor and aroma drivers. The Caramel malts provide flavor depth, enticing color, and a smooth, mildly sweet backbone to support the hop contributions. Silver medal winner at the 2006 GABF in the immensely popular and well entered Pale Ale category. 5.0% ABV 35 IBU The first beer ever brewed by Kurt and Rob, Altbier is a traditional German ale. Altbier is an assertively bitter beer with a clean, dry roasted finish and a deep amber hue. The hop bitterness is balanced by the flavor of the Munich and Caramel specialty malts. Subtle roasted barley and chocolate malt notes add color, flavor, and complexity. Gold medal winner at World Beer Cup. COLLABORATOR Results of a collaborative effort between local homebrewers and Widmer Brothers Brewing. Please ask your server for the current offering. 5.3% ABV 20 IBU A creamy, flavorful amber ale that is smooth and easy to drink. Drop Top is fermented by an American Ale yeast to produce beer with a clean flavor and mild fruity aroma. The velvet texture is from the use of honey malt and a touch of unfermentable milk sugar. Rather than keep all the goodness for ourselves, we ve created the Rotator IPA Series limited time runs of our favorite experiments in the art of IPA. These beers are utterly unique and here today, gone tomorrow. Ask your server which IPA we have on tap today. 8.6% ABV 70 IBU 6.5% ABV 65 IBU New Zealand s Nelson Sauvin hops give this beer a powerful hoppy character, but none of the heaviness you sometimes find in other Imperial IPAs. These unique hops provide a fruity, citrus, berry-like aroma and flavor. The sweet, malty character perfectly balances the hop aroma and flavor. -DIE LINE- Does Not Print Our take on Cascadian Dark Ale. Debittered black malt lends a midnight hue along with a rich, toasty malt flavor.
