7 SINGLE MALT WHISKY CAMPBELTOWN The town of Campbeltown was once home to more than thirty distilleries. Today it is home to just three: Springbank, Glen Gyle, and Glen Scotia. Whiskies from the town tend to have a little peat and salt added to them, and are generally medium to full bodied. 10 RUM Rum has been made for many hundreds of years but only recently has it started to gain true recognition for the high-quality drink it is. All rum is made from sugar cane juice and this is either boiled to become molasses and then fermented and distilled, or as in the Agricole rum, the cane juice is directly fermented and then distilled. Rum is the natural partner for good quality cigars; many of the flavours associated with rum are also associated with cigars: caramel, coffee, and vanilla. 11 TEQUILA Tequila is a high quality spirit made in Mexico from the Blue Agave plant and like rum rum has only recently started to become popular in the UK. All our Tequilas are known as 100% Blue Agave meaning there is no added rectified spirit. It exhibits a wonderfully spicy flavour and should be consumed in the same way as a whisky or cognac.
