5 2.3 Initital start-up Wen te oven is started up for te first time, it sould be supervised ctinuously until steady cditis ave been reaced. Severe vibratis during transport may cause movement of te temperature probes in teir older inside te camber. Note terefore tat before te first start-up te temperature probes sould be cecked for teir correct positi and, if necessary, carefully aligned in teir mounting (see ill). Ill: Camber ceiling wit Pt 100 metal temperature probes 2.4 Oven load Full csiderati must be given to te pysical and cemical properties of your load (e.g. combusti temperature etc.) in order to prevent serious damage to load, oven and surroundings. Please note tat te Memmert ovens described ere are not explosiproof (tey do not cform to te Industrial Associati Specificati VBG 24) and are terefore not suitable for drying, evaporating and burning-in of paints, enamels or similar materials wose solvents may produce an inflammable mixture wit air. Tere must be no possibility of te formati of inflammable gas/air mixtures eiter witin te oven camber or in te immediate surroundings of te equipment. Large amounts of dust or corrosive fumes inside te oven camber or in te surroundings of te equipment may produce deposits witin te oven and lead to sort-circuits or damage te electrics. It is terefore important tat adequate precautis are taken against excessive dust or corrosive fumes. In order to ensure proper air circulati inside te camber, tere must be sufficient spacing of te load inside te oven. Do not place any load te floor, against te side walls or underneat te ceiling of te camber (eating ribs). In order to ensure optimum air circulati te selves must be so inserted tat te air spacings between door, self and rear camber wall are approximately equal. Te maximum number and te loading of te selves can be found in te table in te Secti Tecnical Data. Wit unfavourable loading (too closely spaced) and completely opened ventilati it is possible tat te set temperature may be reaced ly after a lger period of time. 30 16. Sterilisers 16.1 Purpose definiti for MEMMERT ot air sterilisers Te oven SNE/SFE is intended for te sterilisati of medical materials by dry eat using ot air at atmosperic pressure Guidelines for sterilisati in MEMMERT ot air sterilisers For ot air sterilisati tere are different regulatis covering te temperature settings and te sterilisati times, as well as te packaging of te products to be sterilised. Te values to be selected depend te type and cditi of te load to be sterilised and te type of bacteria wic ave to be de-activated. Please make yourself familiar wit te sterilisati metod laid down for your applicati before carrying out sterilisati using your MEMMERT cabinet. Te operati of te MEMMERT ot air steriliser is also subject to te Standard DIN Part 6. A few examples of te correct preparati for different medical products are summarised in te following table: Load Preparati Instruments (no soft solder) Cutting instruments Syringes (no plastics) Glass and glass instruments load cleaned instruments, wrapped twice in aluminium foil or in steriliser foil suitable for ot air (recommended) load cleaned instruments, wrapped twice in aluminium foil or in steriliser foil suitable for ot air (recommended) load plunger and cylinder separately, wrapped twice in aluminium foil or in steriliser foil suitable for ot air (recommended) dismantle cleaned glass vessels and all-glass syringes and place into dises, cool down slowly Bottles, vessels and similar items must be sterilised witout closure and wit te opening downwards, in order to avoid te formati of cold air pockets. Te recommended sterilisati temperature is usually 180 (German Parmacopoeia DAB 10). Sterlisati sould in all cases be carried out as setpoint-dependent operati, according to te following example. Te olding time to be selected csists of te stabilisati time (i.e. te time until te desired temperature as been establised witin te entire steriliser camber), te actual sterilisati time, and a safety margin. EXCELLENT page 30

31 Te following table gives typical values for te olding time to be set, wit different amounts of load, for sterilisers wit and witout fan. Please note tat tese values can be employed ly wit correct and loose distributi of te load. Notes te correct loading of te steriliser can be found in tese Operating Instructis and also te label affixed to te steriliser. Sterilisati Type of loading: temperature:180 ligt medium eavy Steriliser size witout fan wit fan witout fan wit fan witout fan wit fan 200 0: : : : : : :10 1: :00 1: :10 1: :00 1: :30 1: : :30 1: : :40 1: : Te sterilisati time is increased by a factor of 4 wen sterilising at a temperature of 160. On large sterilisers and wit eavy loading it is recommended to use wire selves (special accessory) instead of perforated selves. Especially wit eavy loading of te steriliser it is not sufficient to use tese typical values witout furter tests. Reliable sterilisati requires validati of te individual sterilisati process, e.g. wit te aid of additial temperature probes or by using biological or cemical indicators. In sterilisati processes te vent valve te oven must be closed after te moist sterilisati load as been dried. WARNING! Models SNE700/800 and SFE700/800 are fitted wit lockable doors. If te user, against our express warning, enters te steriliser camber e must first remove te key and carry it is pers. page 31 EXCELLENT

35 17. Cleaning Regular cleaning of te easy-to-clean inside of te camber prevents deposits wic over time can detract from te appearance and te functiality of te stainless steel camber. Te metal surfaces of te oven can be cleaned wit commercially available cleaning agents for stainless steel. It is important to ensure tat no rust-forming object comes into ctact wit te camber or te stainless steel casing. Rust deposits cause infecti of te stainless steel. If any ctaminati causes rust stains te surfaces of te camber, suc spots must be cleaned immediately and te area polised. WARNING! Te ctrol panel, te plastic input modules and oter plastic compents of te oven must not be cleaned using scouring cleaning agents or tose ctaining solvents. 18. Maintenance Important for a lg life of your MEMMERT product and in case of warranty claims. Any work involving opening up te oven must ly be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician.
