9 in your yard How to deal with PROBLEM POSSUMS Possums are a native animal to most areas of Australia, especially where we have decided to build our homes and s. Like many native animals, possum numbers have been reduced by the intrusion of humans, introduction of other animals into the area and reduction of natural nesting space and food sources. Sometimes possums can make a nuisance of themselves by getting into roof spaces and nesting in these quiet dark places, chewing wiring and disturbing domestic dogs. Environment and Natural Resources (DERM) have provided some useful information on deterring possums from your property and providing alternative nesting sites. Information provided by Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland on how to make nesting boxes is also here. Below is a link to photos of the nesting boxes. wildlife.org. au/projects/gliders/ mahoganyupdate2.html environment.sa.gov. au/plants_and_animals/living_ with_wildlife/possums/common_ possum_problems To help live with our native animals the Department of Plants that possums: gliders and milampra Acmena he species Callistemon crebra Eucalyptus tereticornis Eucalyptus orus on grandifl m e st o h p o L species Melaleuca ecies Syzygium sp t Plants ttha attrac KOALAS tus crebra Eucalyp rnis s teretico tu p ly a c u E wildcare.org. plants_to wildlife_ VIEW OTHER 9
