Weekly Market Highlights Wheat futures prices are slightly higher this week, millfeed values continued to slowly decline. Basis premium prices are firm to higher. With futures prices at five-year lows basis needs to be higher to keep wheat moving to market. Recent USDA reports held no real surprises for wheat. Ample U.S. and world wheat supplies are forecast this year and next. Spring and winter wheat crops are progressing nicely overall, though some areas are still too dry or too wet due to too much or too little rain. Weather in other wheat growing regions of the world is also positive. We expect futures prices will remain under pressure, and basis to continue to find support for the short term. Hard Spring Wheat Facts on Flour This wheat contains the highest protein content of all the wheat classes averaging between percent. It has superior milling and baking properties and is used to produce bread products requiring strong gluten, including hearth breads and rolls, variety breads, bagels and thin pizza crust. It is often blended with lower protein flours to improve their bread making qualities. The four-state region of North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota and South Dakota grows approximately ninety percent of the Hard Red Spring Wheat in the United States. 4 Pro News Market Update Produce from the Ground Up For the week of: May 17 th 2015 Citrus Asian Broccoli Slaw This Citrus Asian Broccoli Slaw can be made up to three days in advance (wait to add almonds until just before serving for the most crunch) and pairs well alongside our Asian Pulled Pork Sliders, Chicken Veggie Wraps or Hidden Veggie Meatballs. Pour over broccoli mixture and toss to coat. Add almonds and toss again. Serve chilled or at room temperature. A web site that Pamela Hedges introduced to me is where the above recipe came from. The items I mentioned above, can also be found on their site.

AVOCADO Mid-May prices for large and medium-sized California avocados were slightly higher than last year, but smaller California fruit and most Mexican avocados were cheaper. Season-to-date shipments, meanwhile, were up from last year in both growing regions. Mexico reported an increase of 23.7% while California was up 11.5% for the same time period. BROCOLLI -- The broccoli market has stabilized with the California supply much improved. Meanwhile, the Mexico season has concluded. Pricing has eased, and the California quality is good. CARROTS -- The California desert crop is going well. Size is only fair coming out of the fields. Jumbo carrots are tight in supply. CAULIFLOWER -- Prices are very firm, as the supply side is nowhere near meeting the demand. In spite of that however, the quality is good. CELERY -- There is a reported labor shortage in the Oxnard area, and as you combine that with a demand exceeds situation, you have what we refer to as a up market. Prices are a bit higher than they should be. LETTUCE -- Iceberg supplies have improved and the market is adjusting. Planting gaps are closing slowly with quality trending upwards. This week expect market to find a comfortable level and stay. Weather has been fair in the Salinas Valley. LEAF LETTUCE / ROMAINE -- Supplies are tight on all leaf items with and a planting gap, [the rains we reported on just a few weeks ago] condition defects and increased demand. Mildew and insect damage are issues in some to many samples. Some wind burn and fringe burn are also showing up. The aforementioned sets the tone for the higher prices we are seeing. PEPPERS/CUCUMBERS/SQUASH -- Peppers --. Volume is picking up slowly, with southern bells in Georgia to start perhaps next week. Red Bells are in a little better production. Overall, both Red and Green still a little short in supply. Cucumbers --. With Georgia coming on, and Florida shipping [in spite of the cooler weather], shipping, we should see the market ease up just a bit. Squash: Zucchini & Yellow: Continued plentiful supplies in Florida and Nogales for both zucchini and yellow squash, although prices have firmed slightly from bottom levels. Acorn, Butternut, Spaghetti: New crop spring production in Northern Mexico is now underway, with plentiful availability on acorn, followed by increasing production volume on spaghetti and then butternut. Acorn and butternut are also available in Florida. POTATOES -- Large size russets remain strong and in the case of Idaho - very tight. 80ct size is starting to see pressure as buys see a better value in sacrificing size to save money. 90's and smaller would be a good size to promote- prices are nearly 1/3 cheaper on small cartons compared to large in Idaho. Prices for small potatoes are very attractive in most districts. Consumer packs are an extremely good value at this time.

ONIONS -- Northwest onions are getting tighter many growers have finished for the season, and we are basically down to just a handful of shippers. White onions finished for the season. Storage supplies of red will be available until end of May, and yellows until end of June. Quality has been good, and priced just under the new crop onions in California, which makes buying from Washington a great value. Wintered over onions will be in short supply in Washington, if there is any supply at all. Unseasonably cold weather took care of that crop last November. TOMATOES -- Rounds: The round production is steady out of the new fields, with pricing actually fairly low for this time of the year. Now that most growers are into their crown picks, the smaller fruit [that had been very plentiful] is now running short. Cherry and Grape: both continue to carry the market out of Florida, with very little supply coming out of Mexico. If the forecasted rain comes, pricing will jump. Roma: The Roma supplies are steady, however as we move into May, demand appears to be picking up. APPLES / PEARS --. Great promotional opportunities continue on 88s and larger of red delicious, 72s and larger of fujis, goldens, cameos, pink ladys and braeburn. Demand is steady, schools are back in session. Small red delicious are a little easier to obtain, but shortages continue on other varieties. Quality remains exceptional. Pears (especially 110x and smaller) continue to exceed supply. Supplies are tight, mostly on fancy grade, and crop is running heavy to U.S. #1, peaking 90s and larger. STRAWBERRIES -- We are struggling with supplies, warm weather, days AND nights causing the fruit to be somewhat mushy, really prone to bruising & DK. The rain we had about 2 weeks ago did a lot more damage than we thought. Look for berries to be really snug the next few weeks CITRUS Lemons: Lemons are peaking on 165/200. Prices on larger fruit are firming up as District 2 is heavy on small (200/235) sizes. With the markets as they are and overall supplies down growers aren't in any real hurry to pick at this time. Supplies in general are light and everyone is seeing quality issues -- clear rot/ decay, soft. Oranges: The navel crop is about over as most growers are reporting that they have completed the conversion to Valencia s. Both crops seem to be heavy to the 88 and larger counts. Limes: There is a real shortage on large size limes, while smaller fruit is available. We think the large size fruit will continue to rise over the next few weeks. GRAPES -- Chilean red seedless grapes are available and shippers are looking to clean up... be sure to have fruit checked as age is a factor. The market is steady on reds. Green seedless market is split between regular and storage fruit. be sure to have your fruit checked. Supplies of red globes and black seedless are fair and we have good supplies of institutional packs. New crop red seedless has started harvesting out of Mexico, crossing into Nogales. This fruit looks very nice but is in few hands. look for volume out of this region to kick in over the next 10 days, the green grapes from here should start crossing in the next week as well.

MELONS -- Cantaloupe & Honey Dew -- Cantaloupe and honeydew markets is down slightly as Mexico supplies pick up and California desert starts harvesting. Quality is improving. Sizes are heavier to 1 at this time but should show improvement over the next few week. Honeydew market looks somewhat steady as supplies from Mexico improve. Quality on both cantaloupes and honeydew is good. Ron Orr Produce Peddler Pro Mark [573] ronorr@promarkproduce.com

Soybean Oil Market Pricing Trend Soybean Oil Crop Updates Recent Trend Key Factors Brazilian soybean harvest estimated at 80% complete. CONAB estimates crop at 95.1 MMT. BA Grain Exch. estimates Argentine soy harvest 79.5% complete, up from 68.6% last week and 67% last year. They maintain their total crop projection at 60 MMT. Informa s reports on Thursday reported an estimate for record US soy crop at 87.2 mln bean acres vs. the quite smaller USDA 84.6 mln acres. US plantings at 31% vs. 15% last week and 18% a year ago. Quick progress comes from farmers mainly focusing on soy crop as corn is already ahead of pace. Misc. Influences Weather will begin to play a larger role over the next few weeks. EPA due by June 1. Still in the range we have settled into for the last several weeks, although we are at the higher end currently. Tight supply outlook continues to support the market. Bullish May 15, 2015 Neutral Bearish Impact Value Ranges * Flash Summary NOPA crush estimates at mbu compared to mbu last year and oil stocks to be 41 mln above the March total of 1.46 billion lbs. Weekly export sales failed to impress and left market movement minimal after their release. However, with South American premiums recent rise, we may see this story change. Oil share had an all-star performance finishing Thursday s session at 35.6%, up from this time last week at 33.7%. We have predicted this story over the last several weeks and wonder how high it can climb. * Value ranges represent good booking levels if the market dips into this range Expected Value Range $ $36.00 cash The information above reflects the current opinion of Stratas Foods but does not represent a guarantee of future market conditions. All final oil booking decisions should be made by the end customer and not Stratas Foods. Market Watch

Recent Trend Corn Oil Market Pricing Trend Key Factors Corn Oil Crop Updates Argentine crop estimated by Rosario Grain Exch. at 25.7 MMT, unchanged from last month. However, BA Grain Exch. estimates crop at 25 MMT and USDA estimate at 24.5 MMT. Informa s acreage survey released Thursday at 88.7 vs mln acres last month. USDA did raise their Brazilian corn crop estimate to 78 MMT from 75 MMT previously. This is more in line with CONAB forecast which has been printing range since their April reports. US corn plantings continue to hold well above last year and five years averages at 75%, 55%, and 57% respectively. BA Grain Exch. Report Argentine corn at 33% complete vs. 30% last week. Misc. Influences Without yield update, market remains unchanged. Market seems to have discounted the risk premium for the time being. Weather is forecasted at favorable conditions. Corn yield could help relieve some of the pressure on the corn forecast. Bullish May 15, 2015 Neutral Bearish Impact WASDE holds neutral for US carryover. Many analysts were surprised USDA didn t increase the 2015 yield projection from bpa. Historically, years when early planting occurs, the tendency shows an increase to May yield. US export data released Thursday for w/e May 7 were skimpy at 374,000t, down over 50% from last week s 842,000t, although enough to pull up above 90% of USDA export estimate. Value Ranges * Flash Summary * Value ranges represent good booking levels if the market dips into this range Expected Value Range $ $45.00 cash The information above reflects the current opinion of Stratas Foods but does not represent a guarantee of future market conditions. 11 Canola Oil Market Pricing Trend Canola/Rapeseed Oil Crop Updates Cold weather in some parts of Canada have farmers worried about having to replant some fields. Chattering that seeding has gone well so far as a whole is good news and limits run up in the market. Large global crop coming into the market create a scare for a tight canola market. This situation may result in canola trading independently rather than following its usual trend of piggy backing the CBOT. Recent Trend Key Factors Canadian canola stocks pegged at 7.0 mln t, a few hundred thousand below average expectation. Misc. Influences Canola continues to follow outside markets sideways. Supplies may tighten if planted area remains the same and strong demand continues. Canola experiencing poor crush margins. Hard to overlook ample global soy supply. Bullish May 15, 2015 Neutral Bearish Impact The tighter supplies could lead to ending stock estimates dropping by up to 200,000 to 500,000 tonnes, which means the 2015/16 crop will need to be large in order to meet demand. Canadian Dollar is mixed on the week moving back and forth, finishing slightly weaker on Thursday making canola more attractive to international markets. Expectations of old crop sales coming into the market over the next few weeks put a bearish tone on the market. Strength in palm market and the need for weather premiums built into market limit declines in canola. Value Ranges * Flash Summary * Value ranges represent good booking levels if the market dips into this range Expected Value Range $ $41.00 cash The information above reflects the current opinion of Stratas Foods but does not represent a guarantee of future market conditions. All final oil booking decisions should be made by the end customer and not Stratas Foods. Market Watch

Tropical Oils Palm and Coconut Oil Market Pricing Trends Crop Updates Palm inventories climb to five month highs, reaching 2.19 MMT at April s month end. Large global oilseeds and early plantings of rival edible oils have skeptical outlooks on palm exports continuing the somewhat strengthening we have seen. Flash Summary Recent Trend Misc. Influences Key Factors El Nino forecast is becoming the market s center of attention. China seen buying again; fairly low volumes but better than nothing. If El Nino occurs, yields would be curbed. Some analysts say the market may have overdone the El Nino scare. Impact Market touched 2,233 ringgit, highest since April 6 and 5 week highs. El Nino is major driver for the upward market movement. However, higher movement is capped by weak export demand projected in second half of the month. Typically the El Nino effects aren t seen in palm trees until 9-12 months later, but yields would be hit now with the dry fruits. The 2009 El Nino brought the worst drought in 4 decades to India. May 1-10 exports out of Malaysia were up 45% (SGS: 464,520 vs 320,508) from the same period in April. Many say the surge could be due to buyers rushing to export palm before additional levies from top producer Indonesia kick in. Strong ringgit also pressured the palm market. Malaysia will keep its June crude palm oil export tax at zero percent. Bullish May 15, 2015 Neutral Bearish The information above reflects the current opinion of Stratas Foods but does not represent a guarantee of future market conditions. All final oil booking decisions should be made by the end customer and not Stratas Foods. Market Watch

Furmano's Crop Update Furmano's Food Service Furmano's Crop Update - Spring 2015 TOMATOES DRY BEANS The weather has turned from good to better with lots of warmth and sunshine and Furmano s tomato planting has begun in our Southern Region as well as locally. The tomato seedlings are being planted this week and we will continue planting into the first week in June. While the soil conditions appear to be good and moisture is average, we are monitoring this closely as weather can change unexpectedly. We anticipate a good start to the 2015 planting season! Spring has arrived in all the U.S. bean growing regions. Most growers have planted their sugar beet, corn and soybean crops and are now focusing on dry beans. A stronger planting than projected is expected for most dry beans types. Initial reports of prorated seed shortages have been mitigated by growers using bin-run seed from the prior year's crop. While this practice can sometimes result in reduced stands and lower yields, some growers are willing to take the risk. Good planting conditions have been reported in most bean growing regions as they prepare to seed their 2015 crop. This year's crop has the potential to be strong, which would result in a softer market. Of course, unexpected weather conditions can often create circumstances that could require replanting. Were this to happen, the limited supply of seed could again become a complication and the market could potentially strengthen. While there is always a certain level of uncertainty, many of the bean classes have already begun to align with the projected new crop market prices in anticipation of a strong crop. Internationally, most bean crops appear to be meeting normal expectations. The shortages seen in recent years don't appear to be a threat this season to the domestic bean crop market. However, the value of the U.S. dollar could certainly impact the domestic market. Should the value of the dollar decrease, it could make international trade difficult, putting additional pressure on U.S. crop values. 1:00:22 PM]
