Pennsylvania was instrumental in pioneering genetics, cultural techniques and marketing strategies during the infancy of the Christmas tree industry. The Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association was founded in 1944 and played a major role in the formation of the National Christmas Tree Association ten years later. With its diverse topography and close proximity to the East Coast markets, Pennsylvania produces a wide variety of cold-hardy trees that are able to maintain their freshness throughout the marketing and holiday seasons. Placing an emphasis on Christmas tree research, in both genetics and cultural practices, Pennsylvania remains a powerhouse in an industry it helped to develop more than a half century ago. The PCTGA Wholesale Buyer s Guide is published annually. We invite you to contact our member growers and become acquainted with the quality of Pennsylvania Christmas trees. New members are those that have not been a member of PCTGA in the past 3 or more years. Approximately $15 of this amount is used in lobbying efforts and is not tax deductible.
