6 How to avoid..desk rejection.. When you receive back the peer reviews.. don t be discouraged! 6

7 The Pointers to Publication Failure or Success Common Problems: - Not following the journal s article submission instructions - Poor structure of paper (sub-sections, word length, etc.) - Contribution unclear, especially theoretical aspect(s) - Literature review weak, incomplete, lacks articulation with results - Methodology weak, unclear, lacks rigour - Results poorly exposited, not connected with theory (literature) etc. - Conclusions, practical implications superficial, etc. - Etc., etc. Increasing your chances of getting published: - Have a good research idea - READ the relevant literature and understand your contribution - If not building theory, then apply it very well - Argue your case (with facts) that you have a contribution to make - Follow the journal s instructions for submission of articles - LISTEN to the reviewers and editor s feedback when revising - Have FAITH in the process! 9 History and Background Since thanks to likeminded academics (visionaries?) 28 years and going strong = ±120 issues! Started as International Journal of Wine Marketing Changed its name to IJWBR in 2007 Now based here at the University of South Australia The publication process 9

10 Positioning of IJWBR Emerged from the International Journal of Wine Marketing, the purpose of IJWBR is to provide a forum for publication of timely, rigorous, technically sound, and scientific research manuscripts that focus on all business aspects of the wine industry. The International Journal of Wine Business Research (IJWBR) is the only journal that provides complete and full coverage across business disciplines, continents and countries, on all issues related to managing wine-related businesses. It provides a mechanism for the exchange of information within the broadly defined fields of wine business, management, marketing, consumer behaviour, and wine tourism. It is inclusive rather than exclusive but aims to maintain content in the wine business fields with a focus on marketing and management.
