5 Online Survey Designed to assess industry percepgons of sustainability, interest in developing a sustainability program and cergficagon, and currently available resources and educagonal tools Respondent Demographics - 42 completed Surveys - 6 wineries, 11 vineyards, 24 wineries with vineyards, 1 research and educagon - 64% from northwest MI, 29% from southwest MI, 2% from northeast MI or the Upper Peninsula, 5 % from Southeast Michigan - On average, businesses have been in operagon for 25 years (includes farming operagons 100 years old, and wineries opening this year) - 62% of respondents plan on expanding vineyards in the future - 56% of respondents are MAEAP Verified Full Gme employees - 1,096 acres - 291,420 cases of wine
6 Data Trends 1. Significant value seen in developing a sustainability program 2. Strong interest in self assessment and performance metrics tools 3. Environmental Stewardship, It s the right thing to do, Sales and Wine Quality are most influengal factors behind program pargcipagon or cergficagon 4. Emphasis place on industry ownership, educagon, and research 5. Current implementagon of sustainable winegrowing pracgces viewed as moderate 6. Findings consistent with interest and mogvagon behind exisgng programs around the country
