2 WHAT IS A BOILERMAKER? Quite simply, a Boilermaker is a beer and a shot of whisk(e)y. The concept of this drink dates back to the 1800s where blue-collar workers (Boilermakers) used to frequent bars after a hard day s work and indulge in a beer with a shot of whisk(e)y.

Craftmates by 100Proof is all about marrying flavour nuances of the beer with those of the whisk(e)y. We have identified three factors that make a good Boilermaker! COMMONALITY - Similar flavours in both the beer and whisk(e)y that come together well. ENHANCEMENT - Do the unique flavours in the beer and whisk(e)y integrate and heighten the drinking experience? INTENSITY - Are the flavours in the beer and whisk(e)y at similar levels of intensity?

Jameson Caskmates Irish whiskey shares a major commonality with beer, it was aged in barrels previously used to make Stout and there are subtle reminders of this in the flavour of the whiskey. However, the differences are where this pairing gets really interesting - smooth sweetness and vanilla from the whiskey are contrasted with the subtle citrus flavours and dry malt finish of the beer. Well, Lot 40 Copper Pot Still Canadian Whisky is 100% rye grain which gives the spirit an intense, full-bodied character with plenty of lingering peppery spice. In other words, we need a beer with plenty of guts to match up to a classic American Bourbon like Buffalo Trace. Attacking your palate with fresh oak and corn, and an accentuated sweet finish, this whiskey is tamed by a beer hailing from the East Coast epicentre of US culture - Brooklyn Brown Ale from NYC. This is no ordinary brown ale though - caramel, chocolate, and coffee flavours are combined with fruity and floral hops, and a smooth drinkability that round the edges off the whiskey and leaves you coming back for more. 10 COMBINATION five FERAL SMOKER PORTER & DEWARS 12 YO SCOTCH WHISKY What do beer and whisky have in common? There is a single strand that weaves them both together and that s Malted Barley. This amazing grain, having been transformed by the malting process, plays an integral hand in making some of the key flavours of both beer and whisky. But it s a special kind of smoked malt that adds a bit of flavour magic to this Boilermaker. In the beer, Malted Barley gives a unique smoky, roasted flavour coupled with bitter chocolate and Robusta coffee beans. In the whiskey it gives a whisper of peat which add to other flavours of syrup, sherry, and raisins. The commonality of smoke in the beer and whisky highlight the best attributes of both, and deliver a drinking experience that wouldn t be achieved in isolation.
