Story Behind the Kyusu Teapot Sencha is a type of green tea that is widely enjoyed in Japan. "Kyusu" is a term that refers to Japanese teapots, and the side handled type is said to have originated from people's lifestlye in traditional Japanese rooms. Tea preparation along with eating, sleeping, and many other daily activities stayed within reach from sitting position on the floor. The side handled teapot allowed easy pouring with just one hand by holding the handle, placing your thumb on the lid, and tilting your wrist.
