22 ANALYSIS Five of seven schools already implement an eight period day (Livingston & Princeton) None of the districts reported a drop in college acceptances in Baron s top 65 most competitive schools Maximize teacher/student contact time 8 minutes per class and 40 minutes per week 40 additional minutes per day is equivalent to two additional months of instruction ( 40 weeks/40 minutes) All districts made the change to an eight period day at least two years ago

23 ANALYSIS Increased time occurs in tested subjectspossible increased test scores More specialized program as students opt for subjects of interest

24 FINE ARTS PROGRAM Impact on Music/Art Program- Art major students will still take advanced art courses but will no longer take 3 rd or 4 th elective Music Lessons- already successful under proposed model

25 SENIOR OPTION Students taking SO have already fulfilled graduation requirements Student participation should increase since students can no longer opt out of day due to early dismissal
