This leaflet aims to give you some ideas of what you can eat f your Christmas dinner if you nmally follow a potassium restriction. The foods have been put in low, medium and high potassium sections. This meal plan is to be followed f Christmas day only as it allows a little me potassium than you may nmally eat. You should therefe return to your nmal diet after Christmas day. If you are unsure about any infmation in this meal plan, please contact your dietitian on: 0114 271 4162 If possible, select either low medium potassium options from the list. If you decide to choose a high potassium food drink, select low medium foods f the other parts of the meal. F example, if you choose a high potassium food f your starter then choose a low medium potassium dessert. All vegetables should be boiled in plenty of water and the water should be drained and thrown away. Roasted vegetables should be pre-boiled. page 3 of 12
Starters (choose 1 only) 150ml Chicken soup with 1 slice white bread. 40g Liver pâté with 1 slice white toast. 40g Mackerel pâté with 1 slice white toast. Dip and crudités (20g sour cream base dip with 20g chopped carrot, 30g chopped cucumber and 15g of chopped celery). High Potassium Prawn cocktail (40g cooked prawns, 4 small lettuce leaves, 3 thin slices of cucumber and 1 dessert spoon mayonnaise). Melon salad (50g Galia melon and 50g Honeydew melon). page 4 of 12

Alcoholic drinks All of these cold drinks can be used with mixers such as lemonade, tonic water dry ginger to make a longer drink.
