TRIPFEST TASTING 2014 NOTES
WELCOME TO OUR ANNUAL OCTOBER BEER FESTIVAL. 9TH - 11TH OCT The courtyard houses our outside bar, where we have; 18 cask beers, 6 real ciders, 1 local lager.
TASTING NOTES FOR THE OUTSIDE BAR PART 1 Oakham Green Devil An amazing hop harvest aroma, with tropical fruit bursting through. Smooth and fruity starting with passion fruit, pine apple and mango. Developing in to lemon limes and a citrusy bitterness. Finishing with a crisp refreshing dry aftertaste. Pheasantry Pale Ale Brewed from maris otter malt, a pale smooth tasting beer with a floral citrusy finish. 6.0% Pheasantry Dancing Dragonfly A refreshing, blonde summer ale with low to medium bitterness and medium sweetness. The blend of galaxy, summit and cascade hops gives this ale citrus and exotic fruit flavours. 5.0% Thornbridge Jaipur A citrus dominated India Pale Ale. Its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness activated by honey. An enduring bitter finish. 5.9% Thornbridge Wild Swan Wild swan is white gold in colour with aromas of light bitter lemon. A hint of herbs and a subtle spiciness. A great refreshing beer. 3.5% Everards Tiger Tiger best bitter is a classic example of getting the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. Crystal malt gives the beer its rounded toffee character. Hogsback TEA A deep golden colour, TEA is refreshing, hoppy and well balanced.
TASTING NOTES FOR THE OUTSIDE BAR PART 2 Timothy Taylor Landlord Full-drinking pale ale with a complex and hoppy aroma. This beer has won more awards nationally than any other beer. 4.3% Thwaites Wainwright Refreshing golden ale with subtle sweetness and delicate citrus fruity overtones. 4.1% Rock Bitter A refreshing quaffing ale. Slightly paler than traditional bitter beers it was the forerunner of the India Pale Ale 3.8% Rock Mild The mirror image of Rock Bitter, this smooth, dark mild has a biscuity flavour. 3.8% Legend A traditional amber-coloured session ale with a flavoursome malt character and lively hoppy finish EPA A light coloured, exceptionally well balanced smooth ale with a light fragrant hop finish Bullion A light coloured, exceptionally well balanced smooth ale with a light fragrant hop finish. 4.7% Dreadnought A rich ruby coloured premium bitter with a well-rounded fullness of malt and deep strength of hop bitterness 4.5% Nottingham Supreme A champion amongst premium beers. Light in colour and a good hop balance giving an easy drinking. 5.2%
TASTING NOTES FOR THE INSIDE BAR PART 1 Oakham Asylum Premium amber bitter with insane hop aroma and character. Grapefruit and berries to taste before a bitter end. 4.5% Toolmakers Ripsaw A hoppy beer with a slight fruity taste and a nice clean finish. Toolmakers Razmataz A smooth beer light in colour, floral aroma and citrusy taste. Deventio Cupid Ale A golden honey ale which has a smooth rounded character. Brewed with the finest malted barley, blossom honey, challenger and gosling hops. 4.1% Deventio Emperor s Whim A golden hoppy ale with a long bitter finish Howard Town - Glotts Hop Glott s Hop is a strong beer that is very hoppy. Brewed with Halcyon malt and pioneer hops. Its light, strong and full of flavour. 5.0% Howard Town Monk s Gold Light and hoppy, made with Halcyon and crystal malts and styrian goldings hops. Grundy s Pip Squeak and Wilfred A golden pale ale with strong American hops and a pleasant grape fruit aroma. Packs a bitter punch. 4.4% Grundy s Big Willy Thirst quenching golden ale packed with English hops giving a lasting dry bitter finish. 4.3%
TASTING NOTES FOR THE INSIDE BAR PART 2 Nutbrook More A beautiful dark beer with a subtle red tint. With its burnt roasted barley taste and sweet bitterness this beer has a different, very pleasant taste. 4.8% Brunswick 2nd Brew (a.k.a The Usual) A traditional copper coloured best bitter. Smooth on the palette with flavours of toffee and caramel. Brunswick Triple Hop A straw coloured ale and as the name suggests three hop varieties are used, in three separate stages. Dry, with a bitter astringency. Greene King Bonkers Conkers A complex beer full of fruity aromas and taste. The biscuity malt adds body and warmth. 4.1% Greene King Gangly Ghoul An easy drinking beer. A warming toffee character with a touch of orange peel citrus and spiciness. Greene King IPA A perfectly balanced ale, characterised by its fresh, hoppy taste and clean bitter finish. 3.6% Hardy and Hanson s Olde Trip This is a rich, toffee flavoured beer bursting with fruity character. Balanced with a clean bitter finish. 4.3% Nutbrook Responsibly A light bronze, crisp beer with a fruity flavour.
