Spring Term: No 2 Tel 01737 354541 email: info@tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk Website: www.tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk 18 January 2013 SNOW CLOSURE: It is too early to say whether we will/won t be open on Monday morning so please check the website: www.tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk on Sunday evening/monday morning JK Value of the Month Uniqueness At the Olympics we celebrated the achievement of British athletes and sports men and women as their performances peaked after four years of practise and training. Bradley Wiggins was crowned Sports Personality of the Year for his performance in the Tour De France and Olympic Gold Medal in the cycling. But can you imagine how he would have fared if he had been asked to run the 1500meters instead of ride a bike? Or if Jessica Ennis had to ride a bike instead of 100 meters hurdles? Each Olympic performer had found their unique contribution and went for it with all they had. They did what the popular song by M People suggests we should do You ve got to search for the hero inside yourself. You may not be an athlete at all, you may be a musician or a painter. You may be good at making friends, or have a great memory. You may be good at a lot of things and not sure what s your best part. But the truth is that you are unique. There is no one is just like you. You are unique right down to your eye colour and finger print. Even so called identical twins have their own specific differences. But despite the fact that we know that everyone is different, we have to make sure we value it. We don t want a cloned Tadworth pupil but everyone making their own contribution to the school, so that we discover how you best thrive. We want you to follow your dreams and aspirations. Maybe one day it will be you who will thrill us all at the Olympics but even if you don t reach fame, and fortune, you will have the satisfaction of being the best YOU that you can be. Nic Peck Year 5 Visit to the Greenwich Royal Observatory and Planetarium Year 5 had a fantastic day out at the Greenwich Royal Observatory Planetarium on Wednesday. As well as watching a superb Planetarium show they had time to visit the Meridian line and see how time was first recorded. Summer Harrison liked the Planetarium because she was able to see the sun and earth and learn about the different planets. Kai Braybrook had lots of fantastic questions answered by Brandan ar astronomer. In particular the children were able to find out how a solar eclipse was formed. This was the first time Tadworth Primary had visited the Royal Observatory and it proved to be a very successful visit. Yr 5 class teachers
