Spring Term: No 5 SNOW CLOSURE: Tel 01737 354541 email: info@tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk Website: www.tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk 8 February 2013 Please remember to check the school website www.tadworthps.surrey.sch.uk for updates in the event of snow falling over the weekend. Fulham FC Tournament Champions! Yesterday, the Year 6 boys brought some fresh silverware to the Tadworth Trophy cabinet, when they won the Surrey schools division of Fulham FCʹs ʹPremier League Tournamentʹ. The boys finished top of their group after winning three of their opening four games, and then went on to triumph 4-1 in the final. They will now represent Surrey schools in the next round of the competition in March. I was extremely proud of all the children who took part, both in terms of their football skills and also their a2itude and willingness to play fairly and as a team. PD Well done boys! What an achievement! Thanks to Mr Davies for organising the team. JK Birdwatch Counts Eight Different Species Around the Tadworth Primary Pond Last week Miss Nevard took 20 children from Years 5 and 6 to carryout a birdwatch to record the different birds in the Wildlife Area Pond. All the children were very enthusiastic and sat quietly and patiently whilst recording. Miss Nevard is hoping to repeat the survey during the year, to see how the number of birds changes throughout the seasons. The birds spoĵed were: Blackbird Magpie Blue Tit Robin 1 2 5 3 Carrion crow Woodpigeon Great Tit Wren 3 5 1 2 Surrey Young Carers Visit Linking with our value of the month dependability the children had a visit this week from Surrey Young Carers, a charity which supports children under the age of 18 who care for a family member or friend with a disability or long-term illness. The KS1 children were told a story about worries and learnt about the importance of talking to an adult if they are worried about someone/something. The KS2 children learnt about the role that young carers play and how Surrey Young Carers can support them including listening support, local group support sessions and fun days out. If you would like more information about Surrey Young Carers then you can visit the website www.surrey-youngcarers.org.uk, pick up a leaflet from Mrs Marshall or speak to Miss Prophet or Mrs Pople2, our Home School Link Worker.
