Last Saturday saw the first Tadworth Primary Family Fun Day & Camping Weekend. The children enjoyed two bouncy castles provided by Kelly & Nick Muckle (www.diamondbouncycastles.co.uk). Fulham Football Academy (they will be back during the half term break with their fantastic training sessions), and a beauty bar especially for the girls. Mrs Duke provided some fantastic glitter tattoos, with a variety of parents helping with face and nail painting. At 5.00pm the BBQ was fired up d by some of the Dad and the children enjoyed a tea of burgers, hotdogs & chips. Ice creams followed but it wasn t long before the day trippers left and the camp fire was lit for the Tadworth campers. The Wooding s caravan provided the site office and some extra light as the night drew in. Toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate and whipped cream were enjoyed by all the children before they were tucked up in their beds (in a variety of layers to keep them warm!) and the parents sat around the camp fire until the chilly night air forced everyone to bed. The dawn chorus was met with the sound of children chattering excitedly in bed, waiting for their morning breakfast. Once again the BBQ was fired up, and bacon baps, cereal, tea & coffee was enjoyed by all the campers. Unfortunately with rain forecast, the campers took down their tents and the grounds of Tadworth became a playing field once more. However, the Tadworth Primary Family Fun Day & Camping Weekend will be back in 2013 - watch out for dates next year! A big thank you to Kelly Muckle, Georgina Wooding and the PTA for their role in making this weekend so enjoyable. 600 was raised for the school! PTA October Value of the month Challenge Life is a challenge - Meet it We all find life challenging in one way or another. In some cases you will find something a challenge that doesn t bother someone else. You may find it a challenge to get up in the morning, while your friend can t stay in bed. You may struggle with your times tables when another class member does them without thinking. On the other hand, you might be able to run a mile without stopping while your friend would barely manage 200 yards. This month s value requires us to be aware of the fact that we are all different and the challenges you face today won t be the same as others. But there are also things that most people find tough: unexpected illness, the break up of a close friendship, the loss of a much loved pet these are all difficult to handle. In other parts of the world, life is a challenge because they don t enjoy the freedom we have in Britain, or because they struggle to find enough to eat, or medicine when they get sick. But challenge is not always a bad thing. We can create our own challenges: perhaps to make friends with someone we are not sure about, to take up a hobby we think looks difficult, or do something we have never done before, like trying a new musical instrument. These kinds of challenges help us to build character, because they tell us things about ourselves, and help us push ourselves in good ways to be beĵer. We want to be a school that embraces the challenges of life, those unique to us, those we all face and those we choose to embrace, knowing that challenges are always best faced together. So when you find life challenging you make sure you tell someone and we can make sure that as you face it, you are not alone. Nic Peck Parking Outside School We have recently received a number of complaints from both parents and The Children s Trust regarding parents parking inconsiderately in the area. On one evening this week, shortly after school had finished, an ambulance was unable to access The Children s Trust as their entrance was blocked by an illegally parked car. We will once again be contacting the local police and traffic wardens and asking them to ticket offenders. Parents are not allowed to park inside our school grounds unless you have a blue badge. The car park is strictly for staff cars only. We operate a drop off system in the morning on the roundabout, but only for those children able to leave the car and come into school on their own (ie not for use by Reception or Year 1). Thank you for your co-operation. JK

Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle in aid of The Prince s Trust! Not being content with riding my bike 1.1 miles to school and back each day, I have signed up for a 45 mile ride on Sunday 14 October in aid of The Prince s Trust. If you would like to support me in my madness please visit www.princes-trust.org.uk and follow the links to the sponsor page. Our team name is BethAmSuz, but you can sponsor me individually. Alternatively, I have a paper sign-up sheet on my desk. Many thanks (and please be gentle with me on Monday 15 Oct when I will be feeling very fragile!).
