The Viennese cuisine The traditional Viennese cuisine is shaped by the earlier influences of immigrants from the regions and countries of the Imperial and Royal monarchy. Due to the location of the city near the border with Hungary, Bohemia and Moravia, meals from these countries form the main part of its menus. Danube Tower Vienna Internationally known along with the St. Stephen s Cathedral and the Giant Ferris Wheel, the Danube Tower is not only one of Vienna s landmarks but also, with its height of 252 meters from the base to the top of its steel antenna, the tallest building of Vienna and all of Austria. With its sleek silhouette and the restaurant that constantly rotates 360 degrees at an altitude of 170 meters, it has also become the concrete memory of the optimistic 1960s, of a general sense of the dawning of a new era and economic miracles. The building itself is a spectacular sight, a successful example of Modernist architecture: A slim shaft made of concrete, tapering upwards in a concave curvature and crowned by a cylindrical glass drum. The Tower was built in 1964 for the Vienna International Horticultural Show and today is a listed building. Lead architect was the Viennese Professor Hannes Lintl. He chose a design language taking up the look of the epitome of television towers that can also be found in other cities (e.g., Stuttgart and Toronto). Allow yourself to get inspired by our regularly changing seasonal specialities and let our classic dishes remind you of the good old days. A modern interpretation of grandma s cuisine, with a focus on regionality and products from the field of vision surrounding the Danube Tower. Ultimate Viennese hospitality at 170 meters above the ground! The identification of the 14 main allergens ensues according the legal requirement (EU Food Information Regulation 1169/2011).
