1 Patriot Times V O LU ME 9, I S SU E 2 7 A P RI L 11, 2019 Red, White, & News! The National Junior Honor Society enjoyed their trip to Washington D.C. on April first and second. They visited the Wax Museum, two Smithsonian Museums, the Capitol, and other sites around the city. The trip was an award for the students, who always showing their Patriot Pride. They stayed one night and two days. From Grant Mealey s perspective, he enjoyed the trip and his favorite part was the wax museum.

Combine the chocolate and three tablespoons butter in a heat-safe bowl set over a pan of simmering water.

(Alternatively, combine in a bowl and microwave in 30-second blasts, stirring in between, until melted and smooth, about one minute.

Whisk vigorously until the mixture is thick, foamy and pale, about two minutes. Whisk in the flour until smooth.

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until the edges are set and puffed, but the center is still soft when lightly pressed.

Dust the buttered ramekin with granulated sugar. Combine the chocolate and three tablespoons butter in a heat-safe bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Cook, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. (Alternatively, combine in a bowl and microwave in 30-second blasts, stirring in between, until melted and smooth, about one minute.) Remove from the heat and set aside. In a medium bowl, combine the three tablespoons sugar, egg, egg yolk, vanilla and salt. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is thick, foamy and pale, about two minutes. Whisk in the flour until smooth. Using a spatula, add the chocolate to the egg mixture and stir gently until combined. Pour the mixture into the ramekin. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until the edges are set and puffed, but the center is still soft when lightly pressed. (You can also cover and refrigerate the batter up to a day in advance. Add an additional minute or two to baking time if you are baking the cake directly from the refrigerator.) Use an offset spatula or small knife to loosen the edges of the cake from the ramekin. Place a plate over the ramekin and carefully invert the warm cake. Use an oven mitt or clean kitchen towel to remove the ramekin, dust the cake with confectioners sugar and serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Facts about Washington DC by Adrianna, Trenton, and Maddox The Washington Monument, rising to 555 feet, 5 1/8 inches is the world s tallest obelisk. Washington D.C. is home to some beautiful bridges, and there are six major bridges across the Anacostia River, seven major bridges across the Potomac River, and more than a dozen bridges along the length of Rock Creek Park. If you are in the White House and have to relieve yourself, you will only have a choice of 35 different bathrooms. As of 2013 figures, the White House has 6 levels, 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, eight staircases, and three elevators. Re-painting the outside of the White House alone would require 570 gallons of paint to cover the exterior. Washington, D.C. is the center of all three main branches of the federal government: The Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court.
