2 4 Beverages Swanson Breakfast Smoothie 2 scoops Swanson Soy Advantage, vanilla flavor (#SWU264) 2 tablespoon Swanson Flaxseed Oil (#SWE003) 4 cup frozen blueberries 2 large ripe banana 2 tablespoon Swanson Fructose or honey (#SW083) teaspoon Swanson Psyllium Husk (#SW002) 2 ounces cold water 6 8 ice cubes Peel and slice the banana, then place all ingredients in the blender. Cover and blend until smooth. Makes to 2 servings. Swanson Lemonade with Wild Blueberry Juice cup Swanson Fructose (#SW083) 2 cups water 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (0 2 big lemons) 2 cup Swanson Wild Blueberry Juice Super Concentrate (#SW04) Fresh blueberry garnish Prepare a simple syrup by combining fructose and water in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the mixture boils. Lower the heat and allow the syrup to simmer for minute. Remove from heat and let cool. In a pitcher, combine the cooled syrup, blueberry juice and lemon juice. To serve, pour 4 to 3 cup of the lemon-blueberry base into an ice-filled glass and add either sparkling or distilled water. Garnish with a few fresh blueberries. Makes base for 2 servings.
3 Beverages 5 Swanson Blueberry Martini Blueberry juice has a high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) score, so it s great for immune system health and cellular defense. However, this beverage is strictly for fun. If you prefer non-alcoholic drinks, we heartily recommend one ounce of blueberry juice mixed with fresh-made lemonade for a healthy twist on a classic summertime favorite. ounce vodka 2 ounce Cointreau 2 teaspoon Swanson Wild Blueberry Juice Super Concentrate (#SW04) lemon wedge 4 blueberries Ice Fill a shaker with ice and pour vodka and Cointreau over it. Add Swanson Blueberry Juice. Squeeze juice from the lemon wedge over the ice and shake for 20 seconds. Strain liquid into a martini glass and garnish with 4 blueberries on a stir stick. You may feel great, but limit yourself to one.
4 6 Beverages Swanson Pineapple Energy Smoothie Whey protein powder is a great source of emergency energy because the amino acids are easily digested and assimilated by the body in a short amount of time. The medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil are available to the body as a long-lasting source of energy. 8 ounces pineapple juice scoop Swanson Whey Protein Powder (#SW232) tablespoon Swanson Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (#SWF035) frozen banana, sliced ¼ teaspoon of Swanson Organic Ginger (#SWF060) Drizzle of honey Peel the banana, wrap in plastic wrap and place in the freezer at least 2 hours before making the smoothie. It s easy to store a few bananas in the freezer since they ll keep almost indefinitely. When ready to make, remove the plastic wrap and cut the banana in 6 pieces with a sharp knife. Pour the pineapple juice in a blender while it is in the OFF position, and add the coconut oil and banana pieces. Turn the blender ON (make sure the cover is on the carafe), and while it s whirring, remove the cover and add the Swanson Whey Protein Powder, the honey and the ginger. Blend for a minute or so until the consistency is smooth and creamy. Pour in a 6-ounce glass or into the shell of carved-out pineapple and drink through a straw. In about 0 minutes you will feel electrified and ready to do something fun!
5 Beverages 7 Swanson Dream Soda 2 ounces freshly prepared almond milk (see below) 2 ounces Swanson Acai Liquid (#SWU382) teaspoon Y.S. Organic Bee Farm Clover Honey (#YS06) 6 ounces unflavored sparkling water (we like San Pellegrino) Gently stir first 3 ingredients together and top with sparkling water. Serve over ice or straight up. Preparing the almond milk: ½ cup of Swanson Organic Almonds (#SWF003) 2 cups of pure water (plus more tap water for soaking and blanching) 2 tablespoons Y.S. Organic Bee Farm Clover Honey or maple syrup Place the nuts in a jar and cover them with water. Soak overnight or at least 6 hours. This step helps to release the nutrients from the nuts when they re put into the blender, and it also makes them more digestible. Drain off and discard the soaking water. To remove the skins from the almonds, place them in boiling water (this is called blanching) for about 30 seconds. Then drain off the water and plunge them into cold water. Drain. Squeeze the almonds between your fingers, and the skins will easily slip off. Place the almonds, ½ cup of pure water and the honey or syrup into a blender and combine until smooth (about minute). With the machine running, add the remaining 2 cups of water, and continue to blend for more minute. Pour the mixture into a fine strainer or cheesecloth, and press out the liquid into a bowl with a rubber spatula. The almond milk can be stored for several days in the refrigerator. It s a great addition to smoothies or chai tea, too. Rather than discarding the remaining pulp, combine it with a dollop of organic honey to make a natural, organic face or body scrub!
6 8 Beverages Swanson Pomegranate Iced Tea Pomegranate juice is an excellent antioxidant with its generous levels of a compound known as ellagic acid that benefits your body s trillion or more cells. You ll definitely be drinking to good health with this summer beverage. 2 ounces brewed Swanson Organic Green Tea (#SW23) ounce Swanson Pomegranate Juice (#SWU278) teaspoon Swanson Fructose, to taste (#SW083) 2 lemon slices Ice cubes Fill a 6-ounce glass with ice cubes. (For even more flavor, make the ice cubes out of lemonade.) Pour Swanson Pomegranate Juice over the ice, followed by the brewed tea. Stir in fructose to taste and squeeze the juice from one lemon slice into the drink for a burst of fresh flavor. Cut through the remaining lemon slice from the center to the outside edge, and hang it as a garnish on the rim of the glass. Can you feel those free radicals being neutralized by the pomegranate juice? Swanson Pomenade 3 tablespoons Swanson Fructose (#SW083) 4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (2 big lemons) cup Swanson Pomegranate Juice (#SWU278) 2 2 cups water Crushed ice Combine fructose and lemon juice. Stir to dissolve. Pour lemon juice mixture and pomegranate juice into a pitcher, and stir well. Add water. Pour into tall glasses with ice. Serves 3.

10 2 Beverages Berry Dream Smoothie Elaine Erickson, Swanson customer since 2007 Yogurt: quart milk 6 pills of Swanson Acidophilus (#SW282) Smoothie: ¾ cup yogurt blend ½ cup Swanson Acai Liquid (#SWU382) ¼ cup wild berry concentrate 2 4 ice cubes Swanson Xylitol (#SW208), to taste, optional Directions to make yogurt: Heat milk in pan to 80 F for 3 minutes. Let milk temperature drop down to 2 F. Add 6 acidophilus pills. Pour mixture into 6 ounce sterilized jars and seal/cover with towels to maintain heat. Let stand out for 5 to 6 hours. Refrigerate. Directions to make smoothie: Combine yogurt blend with acai liquid, wild berry concentrate and ice cubes in a blender. Blend ingredients until smooth. Note: Add 2 ounces of water if mixture is too thick. Taste and add xylitol if needed. XYLITOL WARNING FOR DOGS Do not feed anything containing xylitol to your dog or any other pet. While xylitol is healthy and safe for humans, it is metabolized differently in canines, causing a potentially fatal drop in blood sugar. It is also toxic to the canine liver. No matter how much Baxter begs, do not hand-feed treats with xylitol to him, and store goodies out of his reach. The stealth ingredient in this is the cinnamon, inspired by Mexican chocolate recipes. You can t really taste it, but it adds a subtle depth and brings out the other flavors.
