The Soy Capital Agronomic Partners Seed Research Program is the largest Third Party tes ng of new seed products performed by a Farm Management firm in the US. Seed companies partner with us each year to provide an independent scien fic evalua on of their products. Throughout the year, our research specialists evaluate how each corn and soybean product performs under different condi ons. We also evaluate new crop biotechnologies, plant protec on technologies, and produc on enhancement technologies. Our program is unique in that we provide informa on on both traited corn and soybeans, as well as refuge corn and conven onal soybeans. Good management decisions begin with good informa on. We are dedicated to discovering, evalua ng, and implemen ng the latest ag produc on informa on/technology to give our Landowners the Soy Capital advantage. One way we do this is through our Independent Seed Research Program. Soy Capital Ag Services is pleased to share research from 69 replicated and strip plots across Central Illinois, Indiana, and Eastern Ohio. We would like to thank our strip plot cooperators and seed company representa ves for their support in this program. REPLICATED TRIALS (C/SB rota on) Replicated trials are similar to the kind of tests used by seed companies to evaluate experimental products. Each corn or soybean entry is planted three mes at each loca on, and those yields are then averaged to get the reported yield found in this publica on. The size of each test is limited to reduce variability from poten al varia ons in soil or field condi ons. Plan ng is performed with a specialized planter, and harves ng is done with a research combine. Corn - Each hybrid is tested in 30 rows, four rows wide and 17.5 long. The center two rows are harvested for data. - Each variety is tested in 30 rows, two rows wide and 12 long. STRIP PLOT TRIALS (C/C rota on) Strip Plots are on-farm trials u lizing commercial plan ng and harves ng equipment. Each entry is planted one me at each loca on, four rows wide and at least 300 long. All four rows are harvested and data is collected through the use of a weigh wagon. A check hybrid is planted at the beginning and end of the plot and a er every four hybrids. The check is used to iden fy varia ons due to differences in drainage, soil types, and condi ons.
