2 Nationally-Recognized Dining Best College Dining Experiences At JMU Dining, we strive for excellence in all we do. We know that dining is an integral part of campus life and see each day as an opportunity to serve delicious food, host great events, create warm environments, and provide an overall memorable dining experience. Because nutritious food is essential to an active lifestyle and academic success, we build menus with health in mind. By creating menus rich in fruit, vegetables, lean meats, grains, and low-fat dairy, we make eating a well-balanced meal an easy choice. Curious what else is important to us? Check out the following pillars that serve as the foundation of our program: Food Focused We employ a team of classicallytrained chefs - Led by our executive chef, they have over 100 years of combined experience in the kitchen. We are dedicated to local farmers and local food purchasing - Virginia is our home and we are proud of it! We are committed to a well-balanced menu - Our registered dietitian and executive chef make sure our food is delicious and nutritionally complete. We are culinary thrill-seekers - Bored by the ordinary, we seek to raise the bar through innovation, knowledge of food trends, and a willingness to take risks. Student Focused We believe that students know best - Our partnership with the Student Government Association ensures student involvement in all important dining decisions. We take feedback seriously - We actively seek input from the community via our Voice of the Customer platform, DiningStyles surveys, focus groups, and social media channels. We understand food is not all there is to dining - We consistently plan events, giveaways, contests, and classes to boost engagement. We partner with student groups and organizations on projects, events, and fund-raisers. Our Mission 1

9 Our Menus We have all the information you need, right when you need it. Although menu options are seemingly endless, we have provided you with the tools to make navigating all of the options easy: On-Site Resources - Residential Dining Halls: Menu identifiers indicate vegetarian, vegan, and healthy options while providing calorie information and nutrition facts. - Retail Locations: Menu boards provide calorie information; nutrition facts are available upon request. Online Resources - We have included nutrition and allergen information, as well as ingredient lists, on our website. MyFitnessPal - For those tracking dietary intake, we have uploaded our residential menus to MyFitnessPal. Simply download the app or visit and search for Aramark on Campus. Guide to Special Diets - We invite those who would like to learn more on the topic to take a copy of our Guide to Special Diets, available across campus and on our website. At JMU Dining, we strive to reduce our environmental footprint by adhering to a series of stewardship programs and policies within the areas of sustainable food; responsible procurement; green buildings; energy and water conservation; transportation; and waste stream management. These programs and policies are called Green Thread as they weave throughout our business operations each day. Check out the following ways we are reducing our program's environmental impact: Local, Sustainable Sourcing - We are committed to integrating local and sustainable offerings in our locations. Whenever possible, we choose third-party certified options, such as Marine Stewardship Council and Fair Trade, and source products within 150 miles of campus or in the state of Virginia. Waste Reduction and Food Donation - We are able to minimize food waste through LeanPath, an automated system allowing us to identify inefficiencies and reduce the over-preparation of food. Once unnecessary waste is eliminated, we then compost and donate leftover pre-consumer food through the Salvation Army and Campus Kitchens Project SM. Sustainability 14 15

10 Recycling - Aligned with the University's efforts, all dining locations include recycling bins in employee and customer facing areas. We also recycle 100% of used fryer oil, ensuring its diversion into biodiesel or animal feed. Reusable Mugs - We encourage students to reuse through our partnership with Cupanion, an appbased reusable cup and water bottle program. Through this program, students are encouraged to attach a sticker with a barcode to their reusable mug or water bottle. When scanned with the Cupanion app, clean drinking water is donated to someone in need. Students who reuse are also granted access to numerous discounts across campus. Education and Outreach - Through our many events, tours, collaborations, and hands-on activities, we consistently seek to raise awareness and empower students to pursue a more sustainable lifestyle. JMU Dining understands that dining is not just about food. We know that quality programming is key in boosting engagement, generating excitement, and avoiding menu fatigue. 14 FAQ Am I required to have a meal plan? Living On-Campus: Students in university residence halls are required to purchase one of three residential meal plans. Living Off-Campus: Commuters are not required to purchase a meal plan, but several meal plans are available that fit the commuter lifestyle. Living in the Grace Street Apartments: A meal plan is required for all students living in the Grace Street Apartments. Students may choose any commuter or residential plan. If no plan is chosen, it will default to the Weekly 14 + $275. How do I choose a meal plan?
