A limited number of additional plants may be available for sale on pick up days for $4.00 each. Orders must be received with payment at Congregation Sha are Shalom, Evergreen Mills Rd, Leesburg, VA by April 20, 2018 Quantities may be limited! Pre paid orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis, so get your order in early! Make checks payable to Congregation Sha are Shalom Pick up your plants at CSS on April 29, May 4, or May 6 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM Variety Better Bush Tomatoes Description This is a great choice for containers or small gardens that bears sizeable 8 oz. fruits on a very compact plants. Especially strong, bushy plants bear truly tasty, medium-sized tomatoes great for sandwiches and slicing. The heavy foliage of this hybrid helps protect tomatoes from sunburn. Plants are strong and upright, but will still do best in a small cage or on a stake for support. Disease Resistant. Determinate. 68 days. Brandywine Brandywine, which dates back to 1885, is the heirloom tomato standard. One taste and you'll be enchanted by its superb flavor and luscious shade of red-pink. The extra-large (up to 1 1/2 lbs!), beefsteak-shaped fruits grow on unusually upright, potato-leaved plants. The fruits set one or two per cluster and ripen late-and are worth the wait. Indeterminate days.
2 Celebrity 1984 AAS Winner! Celebrity vines bear clusters of mediumlarge tomatoes that are prized for their flavor. This is a great, all-round, dependable choice for your basic tomato needs sandwiches, slicing, snacks, and bruschetta. The large, meaty fruit with exceptional flavor are borne on dependable, strong vines that benefit from the support of a cage or stake to keep them upright, especially when loaded with fruit. Celebrity is sometimes considered a semi-determinate tomato plant, because it grows to a certain height (3 to 4 feet) but continues to produce fruit all season until frost. Disease Resistant. Determinate. 65 days. San Marzano Heirloom Roma. The granddaddy of the San Marzano family of sauce tomatoes. High in sugars, pectin, and flavor for the very best in sauces, pastes, and soups. The rosy red fruit are meaty and thick-walled, reaching up to 5 inches long, and gather in thick clusters. Indeterminate. 78 days. Super Sweet 100 The bonbons of the garden! Super sweet, bite-sized tomatoes are extra high in Vitamin C. The fruits are produced in long pendulous clusters throughout the season. The vigorous vines can grow to 10 feet or more and can be trained to grow on railings or a trellis. Disease Resistant. Indeterminate. 60 days. Mountain Merit This multi-purpose slicing tomato earned an AAS award for its unsurpassed disease resistance, good flavor and production. Deep red beefsteaks average 3-3 1/2 inches across with firm flesh. Early, hard-working plants stay healthy throughout the season. Disease Resistant. Determinate. 75 days. Limited Quantity
3 Heirloom Marriage Genuwine These luscious, ruby-red slicers are the result of a cross of Brandywine and Costoluto Genovese, two of the most delicious heirloom varieties. This fusion produces beautiful, slightly squat, globe-shaped tomatoes with the most delectable flavor. Indeterminate days. Limited Quantity. Giant Marconi Peppers Incredibly versatile! Terrific in salads, salsa, roasted, grilled, or fried. Bred in Italy, this pepper is also an All America Selections winner. Large, tapered fruits are 8" long x 3" wide and can be picked green or left on the plant a little longer and harvested red. The fruits mature earlier to red than other varieties. Disease Resistant. 70 days. Golden California Wonder Popular since the 1920s, this is the golden version of the red California Wonder. Smooth, blocky and blunt-ended 5" x 4" fruits are thick-walled, very sweet and mild. Maturing from light-green to golden-yellow, the peppers grow on 22-26" sturdy, upright plants that set continuously days Sweet Bananna A mild, sweet Hungarian pepper. A favorite in the home garden, Sweet Banana Sweet Pepper produces elongated, 6- in. fruits that start yellow and turn scarlet red when fully ripe. The sweet, mild, waxy, thin-walled peppers are delightful in salads and for fresh eating, and they are exquisitely pungent when pickled. Early and very prolific, the fruits can be harvested when yellow, but their sweetness increases as they remain on the plant. 68 days.
4 Poblano Loads of mildly pungent, 4" heart-shaped fruits that ripen from dark green to deep red. Called Ancho when dried, Poblano when fresh. This is one of the most popular peppers grown in Mexico. Plants grow to 2 1/2 ft. tall. Fully ripened, red fruits are much hotter and flavorful than the earlier picked green ones. 1,000-2,000 Scoville units. 65 days. Super Chili 1988 AAS Winner. Highly ornamental, semi-compact, 24" plant bearing 2-1/2" elongated fruits with plenty of hot chile flavor. Bred for increased yields, ripens from green to orange to red. Ideal for patio and container gardens. 35,000-40,000 Scoville Units. 75 Days.
5 Sweet Slice Cucumber A productive burpless hybrid with mild flavor and no trace of bitterness. Vigorous vines produce a heavy crop of slim, medium-dark green fruits 10 to 12 inches long. Flesh is pure white, crisp and tender with thin skin. Has excellent disease resistance. 65 days Genovese Basil This Italian variety has extremely tender, fragrant, extra-large, dark green leaves and is superb for pesto days. Bush Fino Verde Fino Verde basil is very compact and dense, perfect for garden borders, patio pots, and containers. Favored by chefs for its intense, sweet flavor. The small leaves are easy to use in cooking because the twigs can be included; they also make superb additions to salads. 65 days.
