1 2017 Vegetable Varieties BEAN- BLUE LAKE BUSH: Get improved flavor and tenderness in a virtually stringless bean. It s a heavy producer over a long season, and is excellent fresh or frozen. We find the beans to be at their peak when 6.5 in. long. Enjoy a bountiful and extended harvest by picking daily. BROCCOLI- DESTINY: This mid-early, compact, heat-tolerant broccoli variety features medium-small green beads, a smooth dome and a round shape. A flavorful source of vitamins A and C. Suited for Fall harvest when planted in Summer. BRUSSEL SPROUT- JADE CROSS: A fine hybrid that produces high yields of deep green, flavorful 1/4 to 1 round sprouts on 28 plants. The plants are more compact than other varieties, which makes them less subject to wind damage. Its early maturity allows for later planting when cooler growing conditions are more favorable. CABBAGE- CHEERS: Cheers is very uniform and has a large frame with good wrap. This variety is moderately tolerant to heat and exhibits a high resistance to Fusarium Yellows and intermediate resistance to Black Rot. CABBAGE- RUBY PERFECTION: Ruby Perfection has strong tolerance to both heat and cold. Very late to burst, this variety produces solid heads with good uniformity. It has light resistance to Black Rot. Recommended for early to late CAULIFLOWER- SNOW CROWN: Offers quick growth and strong vigor, and it produces big yields of fully domed white heads up to 8 in. across, weighing 1 to 2 lbs. May be eaten raw, cooked, pickled or frozen. Snow Crown holds its eating quality for up to 10 days in the garden. May show a light pink blush when it matures in Summer s heat. CORN- HONEY N PEARL: 76 days to maturity; 9 in. yellow/white color.

It s best picked when yellow-green for use in roasting or frying but can also be left to mature when it will turn orange-red. PEPPER- GOLDEN BELL: Large, bell shaped, golden fruit. Ideal for use in the home vegetable garden or large containers. Reaches full color in 80 days. Perfect for use in salads, sandwiches, savory snacks or cooked in a stir fry. PEPPER- HOT LEMON: This heirloom from Ecuador produces 3 to 4-in. fruits that ripen to yellow, but are also very flavorful when green. The skin is tender and the aroma is spicy with a hint of pine woods. As hot as any Cayenne, these peppers are best used fresh in sauces, or for drying. The more you harvest, the more your plants will produce!

PEPPER- HUNGARIAN HOT WAX: In about three months, you can begin harvesting these versatile, 6 to 8-in. long, yellow-to-red peppers. These hot, tapered fruits are great for pickling or drying, using in salsa or adding spice to any recipe. PEPPER- JALAPENO: I Enjoy big harvests of hot peppers that mature from green to dark red in about 75 days. Pungent, sweet-hot peppers deliver flavor and heat! PEPPER- PURPLE BEAUTY: Colored a rich, deep purple, they have terrific sweet bell flavor to go with their good looks. Plants fruit prolifically, easily producing up to 25 to 30 pods per plant. Banana peppers are great for frying and pickling, and are an excellent choice for making pepper rings for sandwiches. Great for containers. PEPPER- TIBURON: Tiburon produces extra-large fruit for stuffing or drying. This variety s fruit are shiny, dark green maturing to red and are mildly pungent. Tiburon has a large plant with continuous fruit setting for extended harvest.
5 PUMPKIN- BABY BEAR: Eight to nine pumpkins per vine. Long stems make good handles. 105 days to maturity; lb. PUMPKIN- HOWDEN: If you want to carve big pumpkins this Fall, plant Howden, one of the most traditional old-time favorites. Intense, bright orange pumpkins with defined ribs and strong handles grow from 10-ft. vines. These vigorous, spreading pumpkins provide high yields of attractive 20 to 30-lb. fruit expect to harvest four or five from each plant. SQUASH- EARLY BUTTERNUT: Medium-sized fruit are tan in color and have a blocky shape, with sweet, dark orange flesh. Early Butternut s compact, semi-bush plant produces excellent yields. SQUASH- GOLDEN CROOKNECK: Meaty fruits with small crookneck have bright yellow, bumpy skin. Delicious flavor and fine texture. SQUASH- TABLE ACE: The finest, tastiest acorn squash you ll ever grow. Color is excellent, and the thick, bright orange flesh is smooth and delicious. The rind is a real black-green and holds its color well in storage. Its semi-bush vines are quite compact and produce a lot of delicious squash in a limited space. Stores well all winter. SQUASH- YELLOW STRAIGHT NECK: This early, prolific straightneck summer squash produces creamy yellow, tender fruit of excellent quality early in the season. Plants continue bearing if kept picked and cared for. It has a tapered, straight neck, not curved like Crookneck, making it perfect to slice into lengths for grilling. SQUASH- ZUCCHINI DARK GREEN: Early, vigorous zucchini bears abundant yields of straight, smooth, dark green mottled, 6 to 8-in. fruits. Pale greenish-white, firm flesh. Bush habit. TOMATO- BABY BOOMER: Perfect for the patio, each wildly prolific plant yields 300 or more little sweeties bursting with great-big flavor. Compact, whorled plants produce 1-in. (2.5-cm) tomatoes right up until frost. This one offers great Verticillium and Fusarium resistance. TOMATO- BEEFMASTER: This huge red beefsteak produces large, meaty, classic beefsteak-type tomatoes on indeterminate vines until frost. Fruit is tolerant of cracking.
