1 Plant Name 1 BINDERS OF WOMEN 2 DOCTOR FEELGOOD 3 FORESTLAKE BECKY 4 FORESTLAKE DEVIL'S MISTRESS 5 FORESTLAKE WARM & FUZZY 6 INCENSE AND PEPPERMINTS 7 JOO JOO EYEBALL 8 MEMORIAL TO JARED Description Binders Of Women--Howard 2013 (Photon Torpedo X Tet Skinwalker) 8"/45".MLa,Sev,Tet,UFo cascade- 20 buds,3 branches Tall lavender/purple blend with darker halo, pale mid-rib and large yellow-green throat. Politicians have been known to say inane things, but this phrase from the 2012 presidential debates is one I thought should be memorialized. The exact phrase used was actually "Binders full of women". It is sad that the pay disparity between the genders even exists today. If you look at some of the all-male institutions that have gotten into so much trouble in recent years I think we could use a few more females in charge. I'd say more but am trying to keep politics and daylilies separate--really. This one is pollen fertile-pods are difficult but not impossible. I have gotten some great selects from Curt Hanson's stuff and this tall imposing bloom has a wing span of about 10" and a corresponding large surface area. Doctor Feelgood--Howard 2014 (Heartbeat Of Heaven X Jay Farquhar) 6.5"/35",M, Dor,Tet. 18 buds-4 branches. Magenta rose with slate-lavender halo and yellow-green throat with ruffled double edge of lavender and gold. Fertile both ways. A large bloom with very pretty coloration. I am not a Motley Crue fan-just like the name. Forestlake Becky (Harding-F., 2003) Image taken at 7:00 pm on 95 degree plus day. height 30", bloom 5.5", season MLa, Dormant, Tetraploid, 16 buds, 4 branches, Melon pink blend with yellow edge above yellow throat. (Forestlake Lacy Bloomers Forestlake Ragamuffin) Incense and Peppermints-Howard 2013 (Stack The Deck x Candy Stripe Mountain) 7"/32",MLa,Dor,Dip 18 buds,2 branches Light pink rose veined budbuilder Unusual form crispate-cascade with red halo, patterned eye,and greenyellow throat. Long live the Strawberry Alarm Clock! The song they recorded Incense and Peppermints reached #1 on Billboard in 1967,a year I sort of remember. The psychedelic age was in full swing when Incense and Peppermints became popular. Some say the song refers to incense that was often burned to mask the smell of marijuana, and peppermints were used to mask the smoke on a person's breath. I just liked the song. Red patterns are rare. Dormant red patterns even more rare. Add in the 7" size and the consistent look that is not temperature dependent and you can see the hybridizing potential. I will see some crosses next year with the Carpenter patterns. It can get a little unruly at times but that only adds to its appeal. $75/DF Joo-joo Eyeball--Howard 2014 (Tet Ben Lee x Slipped My Disco) 6"/32"- M,Sev,Tet. 21 buds-4 branches. Mauve with multicolored patterned eyezone and green throat. Fertile both ways but pods can be difficult. Ambient lighting will affect color. What you see is how they looked when the shot was taken. The pattern will vary and seems more prevalent in cooler temps. Name is from the Beatles' song "Come Together": "Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly. He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller". Memorial to Jared - Howard "/35"-MLa,Sev,Tet. 2 9 BRAVO CARUSO Bravo Caruso (Moldovan-Woodhall, 2011) (Ron Valente: (Vatican City X Imperial Wizard) X Queensbury Rules: (Sailor's Dance Imperial Wizard) 34 to 36-inch scape, 6- inch flower, 4-way branching, 20+ buds, D. This daylily was selected by Steve as being his best 2005 purple which, considering his reputation for this particular color, is saying something. I have been astounded over recent years during my travels throughout his subsequent seedling fields how often he went back to H, Bravo Caruso in his breeding program. Taken to very ruffled varieties it is producing some of the most spectacular patterned daylilies that I ve observed. She is proving to be a very important parent in the quest for astonishing patterns. Given her illustrious parents I have no Idea why I was surprised with the ensuing results observed in the current seedling fields. Branching on this variety is exemplary and overall plant habit more than lives up to Steve s high standards. The deep, rich purple obviously comes from its pod parent, Ron Valente, while its bluish eyezone would appear to come from dad. Named for our female Austrailian Sheperd who will be 10 in Jan I wanted to call this one "Mandi" but was overruled.i love the color, height and instant rebloom on established plants. Pawprints On My Heart (Howard,R, introduction) (Waiting in the Wings X Golly Wally) Lavender cream bi-color spider with chevron patterned eye and green throat 7.5"/33"--E,Dor, Tet -35 buds,3-4 way branching. Passes on branching and bud count and early bloom to its offspring. Fertile both ways. Vigorous----fast increaser..makes small-medium size plants, has been tested in Zone 4. Dedicated to all those wonderful pets that touch our hearts. Can be used to breed earlies, bi-colors, spiders/ufo's, patterns or just to enhance bud count and branching. Rohrshach Test--Howard 2014 (Spacecoast Sea Shells x Tet marked By Lydia) 6.5"/33"--M,Sev,Tet. 20 buds-5 branches. Light yellow with patterned applique eyezone on all segments. Fertile both ways. Smoke On The Water--Howard 2014 (Me and My Shadow x Ashwood Smoky Joe) 5.25"/35"--MRe,Sev,Tet. 24 buds--4 branches. Deep rose purple with darker veining, lavender watermark, white edge on petals and sepals and green throat. Fertile both ways. Beautiful color, indicative of the the high concentration of Munson genes on both sides of its parentage.opens well on cool mornings. Named for a Deep Purple song with one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. 14 WITCHY WOMAN Witchy Woman--Howard 2014 (Heartbeat of Heaven X Bill Robinson) 5"/28"-- M,Sev, Tet- 15 buds,3 branches-mostly top-branched. Pale coral-peach blend with yellow halo and green throat, ruffled edge, and mid-rib cristating. It will show the cristated appearance 60-70% of the time. In hot weather, the blooms show a slim white edge. The name was inspired by the poppies mentioned in the iconic poem 'In Flanders Fields' written by Colonel John McCrae in 1915 during the battle of Ypres in Belgium. 3 20 HAUTE COUTURE 21 GRYPHON PRAGUE GOTHIC 22 LEMON STRAWBERRY TWIST 23 BARBARA NICKEL 24 WINGED SERPENT Haute Couture (Moldovan-Woodhall, 2011) (Vertical Horizon: (Merchant Marine (Moonlit Masquerade Mason's Mark)) X Gillian: (Moonlit Masquerade X Tetra Dragon s Eye) 36 to 38-inch scape, 6-inch flower, 3 to 4 way branching, 20 to 22 buds, D. How could a daylily with the AHS award-winning parents that H. Haute Couture has be anything but fantastic? I was going to introduce this daylily last year but found myself having trouble releasing it because I inevitably found myself discovering even more crosses that I had to make. I am currently using this plant extensively in my pattern breeding and rarely did a flower open when it was not immediately crossed. Its coloration varies between lavender purple to deep lavender. She has a rather interesting amber-olive coloration emanating from the throat. Three different rings of color make H. Haute Couture s pattern most intriguing. Very limited availability, as I never gave it a chance to recuperate from my extensive breeding over the past several years. Fertile both ways. Limited stock. Gryphon Prague Gothic (Stelter, 2014) {(H. fulva 'Hankow' x 'Ruby Spider') x 'Point of View' X 'Let Loose'} 8, 54, late dor tet 4-5wbr 18-20bc major rebloom. This is another of our fulva-tet crosses that result in very vigorous plants. The eight inch blooms are flaming red, with large green throats, strong white midribs, and a touch of a green edge. The reblooms, at a height of 34", start while the original late blooms are still going strong, giving a double whammy clump at two levels. 'Gryphon Prague Gothic' is our tribute to the wonderful city of Prague, one of the most complex small cities in the world, with its many layers of history all apparent at the same time. Fertile both ways. LEMON STRAWBERRY TWIST (S.Holmes, 2013) 4-Way Branching. Tetraploid Dormant Mid 9", 18 buds, 36" H, ((Webster s Golden Wonder X Megatron) LEMON STRAWBERRY TWIST is one of the most uniquely colored daylily in our garden. Who would have ever guessed that crossing a yellow and red would produce a clear yellow daylily with a pink edge. The color is a yellow self with a large green throat and a unique pink ruffled edge not normally seen in tetraploid unusual forms. The pinching has been consistent from first bloom to last regardless of temperature and is spatulate from morning to night regardless of the temperature. The pink edge will fade as the temperature approaches 90 degrees. On very cool mornings you will see a pink overlay which fades to pink edges as the temperature warms. The waiting list for this one includes more round, ruffled collectors than any flower I have ever introduced. It is truly unique. LEMON STRAWBERRY TWIST was a 2011 Junior Citation Winner. Difficult Pod/ Pollen Fertile BARBARA NICKEL (S.Holmes, 2013) Tetraploid Dormant Late Mid 6". 16 buds, 37 H, 4 Way Branching. (Lavender Tall Stacks X Mildred Mitchell) X {(Yellow Mammoth Seedling X Webster's Golden Wonder) X Michael Bennett}. BARBARA NICKEL is a lavender bitone with a chartreuse throat blends into a lighter blue lavender watermark. The watermark which is darker near the throat and at its outer edge can be patterned after cooler nights. The petals and sepals both have purple veining. The petals have a pale lavender picotee edge. This fine lavender watermarked daylily is named for Barbara Nickel, a regular garden visitor who has become a good friend. I was honored when she picked one of my favorite daylilies to bear her name. BARBARA NICKEL is a 2012 Junior Citation Winner. Fertile Both Ways. $ S.F. Limited WINGED SERPENT (S.Holmes, 2013) Semi Ev. When WINGED SERPENT first bloomed in the seedling field, the form reminded me of a very large flying bird. Once established, this extra large UF blooms on tall strong scapes and well spaced blooms that make quite a statement in the garden. The flower is cayenne pepper red with a clean green throat that bleeds into yellow orange which is almost like a watermark. 4 26 NITA LELAND NITA LELAND (S.Holmes, 2013) Dor. Mid. 7 34"H. 16 Bud Count, 3 Way Branching. Tetraploid. {((April in Paris X Camel Caravan) X Big Red Express) X (Scottish tasy X Francis of Assisi) X Big Red Express)} X {((Webster's Purple Wonder X( Heavenly Beginnings X Braided Lightning) X Velvet Ribbon)} NITA LELAND is a bitone with rose pink petals with paler rose sepals and a lightly ruffled pale edge. The slightly darker eye on the petals and a pencil eye on the sepals are highlighted by the extended green throat. The clean rose color is a breakout from the orange/brown colors in Tet. Spindazzle hybridizing. From the beginning NITA LELAND stood out from the crowd as the only rose colored daylily in a cross that was every shade of orange. NITA LELAND is a 2012 Junior Citation winner. Quantity is limited. Fertile Both Ways. Limited 27 PURPLE MAN PURPLE MAN (M.Holmes, 2013) Dor Mid, 6", 22 buds, 34",4 Way Branching. Tetraploid. Vatican City x Briar Patch. I was really happy when PURPLE MAN bloomed. It is a purple self, dark eye, surrounded by white teeth on the petals and sepals. Steve Moldovan in previous years had talked about putting white teeth on his beloved Vatican City. So I made a few crosses on it with some pollen Larry Grace shared with me (later named Briar Patch) and bloomed this grand daylily. Steve didn't get to see this seedling but I'm sure he would have been happy. It has all the traits Steve loved. Branching, Scape height, budcount, dormancy, the color purple, opens well and hold in the sun. Of course I like these traits also. This daylily has nice garden presence and is a good parent. A favorite hybridizing daylily of mine. Easy Fertile Both Ways. 28 KYLE BILLADEAU Sold Out Kyle Billadeau (Morss 2014) 30" E Re Ex Sev. 5". Tet. Nanny Button Cup, which by the way is the name of a garden fairy in literature, has always been a favorite of mine. Normally I am not a fan of smaller daylilies not because of the flower itself but more due to my starting my hybridizing career in the world of large flowered daylilies. But when I saw H. Nanny Button Cup all of that changed. She is so totally delightful not only because of her size but also for the breeding potential that she offers in larger daylily breeding. The two-ringed eyezone is fascinating, presenting colors ranging from maroon to what I can only describe as bluish gray-purple. I have found myself taking this daylily into larger ones to enhance the pattern program not to mention that her genetics are conducive to producing larger daylilies. H. Nanny Button Cup has proven to be an eye catcher here at the garden. Fertile both ways. Bedlam In The Bluegrass (Kirchhoff 2014) Tet 27" M Re Ex VFr Ev. 6.75". This one heralds back to "Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding" and is named after my Pastor; William Zimmann, who left us this spring and will be dearly missed. This Royal Purple with a ruffled and toothed gold edge is a fitting namesake for the man who made a big difference in our lives. Garden visitors have admired this one for years and I am pleased to finally have enough to offer. Another 2011 Junior Citation Winner. We have a few to spare aside from the collection--act fast. Fertile Both Ways--$ SPOTS BEFORE MY EYES Spots Before My Eyes ( Mussar, 2013) I have been working toward a goal of spotted pattern daylilies for many years now. Spots Before My Eyes has come out of some of my earliest work in this area. The flower is a peach self overlaid with fine burgundy speckles on the tepals with a more densely stippled burgundy eye and a green throat. The 5" flowers are borne on scapes averaging 32" tall with 2 lateral branches plus a top V and about 18 buds. It is an early season bloomer with semi-evergreen foliage. Parentage is Moldovan's Seurat x David Kirchhoff's Goldmist Red. Surprisingly there is only one registered cultivar with Seurat in its parentage and none with Goldmist Red. Spots Before My Eyes is pod and pollen fertile and has been producing some nice speckled kids. 48 ECHO ECHO Echo Echo (Gossard, James) 2014 introduction. Once again this is yet another one of this year s introductions that have a cast of AHS award-winning parents! H. Til We Meet Again is a medium pink with a crystal clear red eye that is enhanced by an amber, ruffled edge. The branching is excellent and is held high above the exemplary foliage. She re-blooms here in Avon. H. Til We Meet Again is always a showstopper in the garden with visitors who have recommended that I introduce it for a number of years now. After Steve s passing this area became somewhat overlooked while everyone was busily assessing the newest seedlings in other beds. My eternal thanks goes out to Mike Holmes who was wandering about and noticed H. Vintage Victorian and brought it back to my attention. She was moved to Columbus for increase and then brought back home and lined out. Jackie & I have been playing Texas Holdem poker for a while and one of the first hard earned lessons was not to CHASE THE FLUSH, it usually ends in you losing the hand (and your money). Another tall late one and bud builder, not quite a spider and inconsistent UF qualities make this a extra large flower. The color is rose pink leaning towards creamsicle orange with lighter midribs and yellow green throat. (SHIRLEY BIXLER X JIM DANDY TO THE RESCUE) GIMME A PIGFOOT (Bachman 2013) 41 5 M SEV Dip 4 way 42 buds. Another from our line of small but tall UFs is this grape purple with white midribs and chartreuse throat. It actually does not consistently give UF characteristics so it is registered as a small flower. GIMME A PIGFOOT was a Bessie Smith standard and covered nicely by Laverne Baker. As a seedling it garnered a JC Award. It is fertile easily both ways and a sib to both STUPID CUPID and STRAIGHT NO CHASER. This was a seedling that I was growing for Don and Lea Ann Williams and we are co-introducing it. Lea Ann wanted to name it for her soccer playing granddaughter, Samantha Lee. This daylily is a great grower, vigorous and hardy as well as a great looker in the garden. Tall, big and late are what I like and this is all three. The blooms are a very light lavender purple with a darker lavender purple halo and a bright green charteuse throat. Fertile both ways. 8 62 CASTING CROWNS 63 HEAVENLY SUNRISE 64 RED EYED QUEEN Casting Crowns (2013 Polston) 28" 5.5" 4-Way Branching, 18 Buds. Dor,Tet. Rose Masterpiece X Rock Lobster. "Casting Crowns" is another in a long series of pleated (pinched) Daylilies that have become a sideline of our breeding program. These pleated Daylilies just give a different look in the garden. Fertile Both Ways. HEAVENLY SUNRISE. (Waldrop, 2014) ((Summer Hymns x J. T. Davis) x Ram). Dormant. Tet. Mid to late season blooms. 32 tall, 5-way branching, 23 buds, 7 flower. Looking back over this past summer this flower was the most exciting plant that I saw in my garden. Mid season came and so did the blooms. Over many years of looking at yellow daylilies, to my eye, this is the best that I have seen. One parent comes from Dan Trimmer, another parent is a Stout medal winner from Larry Grace, and perhaps the big contributor to size is Whatley s RAM. The substance of HEAVENLY SUNRISE is especially nice, and it is not particularly impacted by the summer heat. I picked the name HEAVENLY SUNRISE after thinking long and hard about the impression the flower has on me when I see it bloom. If you buy anything from me this year I would recommend that you include this magnificent plant. Pollen fertile and a difficult pod parent. RED EYED QUEEN. (Waldrop, 2014). (God Save the Queen x Red Eyed Radiance). Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 32 tall, 3-way branching, 16 buds, 7 flower. The name for this beauty was selected because it combines the names of its two parents. Daylilies with eyes and edges are particularly attractive, and RED EYED QUEEN makes the most of these attributes. In fact, I sometimes see teeth on the edges of the petals. The colors include a light rose on the petals and sepals, with a light red color around the throat, and yellow edges on the outside of the petals. Pod and Pollen fertile. 65 MARLEE JANE MARLEE JANE (Waldrop, 2014) (Varsity Orange x (Lonnie Leroy Carpenter x Kennesaw Mountain Hayride)). Sev. Tet. Mid season blooms. 42 tall, 4-way branching, 27 buds, 7.5 flower. It has a very strong coral color with a yellow edge on the petals. This incredible daylily was recognized by popular vote as the best seedling in Region 5 (Georgia), during the Regional Meeting in 2012 in Savannah, Georgia. The name, MARLEE JANE, recognizes our close and dear friend Marlee, who has contributed so much to the world of daylilies. Pod and pollen fertile. Sold Out. 66 THE STING! THE STING! (Waldrop, 2014) (Wild Hair x tastic Fringe). Sev. Tet. Early blooms. 37 tall, 4-way branching, 24 buds, 5 flower. When this flower first bloomed in the Greenhouse it was lovely, but not until it spent a winter outside, and then encountered the summer heat did it truly express its beauty. It takes the summer heat for the teeth on both the petals and the sepals to truly be like the stinger on a bee. I chose the name and included an exclamation point as part of the name because the teeth on the flower are so remarkable. Limited supply. Pod and pollen fertile. $ DIANA'S PEACHES AND CREAM DIANA S PEACHES AND CREAM. (Waldrop, 2014) (Varsity Orange x Tet. Terry Lyninger). Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 27 tall, 4-way branching, 24 buds, 5.75 flower. DIANA S PEACHES AND CREAM has a beautiful orange color, with a brighter, glowing firelight color in the eye. There are wonderful ruffles on the edges of the petals. This daylily achieved its name from a lovely dessert my wife Diana makes during the summer. Pollen fertile, but a difficult pod parent. $ IRISH CROWN IRISH CROWN. (Waldrop, 2014) [(Leslie Renee x Angels Gather Around) x (Leslie Renee x Angels Gather Around)]. Sev. Leaning to dormancy. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. I ve been asked by friends about this year s green edged introduction. Well, here it is: IRISH CROWN. It is a bitone. The Petals are a royal purple, and the sepals are a lighter shade of the same color. It has an ivory colored halo around its throat. Then there is a distinct green color in the throat, and an even more distinct band of greed edges around the petals. The name IRISH CROWN was suggested several years ago by my friend David Williams. Thanks David for the name. 9 70 BLAZING CANNONS 71 CROOKED SMILE 72 LITTLE JACKIE PAPER 73 TWENTY CARROT 74 VIRGIL'S SUSPENDERS BLAZING CANNONS. (Waldrop, 2013) (Spacecoast Blood Diamond x Home of the Free). Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 31 tall, 5-way branching, 25 buds, 7 flower. BLAZING CANNONS is a cross between two champions. A champion pod parent from the Kinnebrew garden, and another champion pollen parent from the garden of Larry Grace. These two parents produced a brilliant red flower that is 7 in diameter. BLAZING CANNONS has grown very well here in North Georgia, and I m pleased to also report that it often produces proliferations. BLAZING CANNONS received its name after I watched many episodes on the history channel about the Civil War. Pod and pollen fertile. CROOKED SMILE. (Waldrop, 2013) (Virgil s Suspenders x Windmaster). Ev. Tet. Unusual form. Early to Mid-season blooms. 36 tall, 4-way branching, 22 buds, 11 flower. Although this beauty is an evergreen, it is tough. It does well here in North Georgia regardless of our cold winter temperatures. Perhaps this should be expected because one-half of the parentage of the pod parent is Tet. Indian Giver. Also, CROOKED SMILE is like LYDIA S REGAL ROBE and LITTLE JACKIE PAPER in that it has a tight bud and it hardly ever spots or looks untidy. CROOKED SMILE is pollen fertile, but a difficult pod parent. LITTLE JACKIE PAPER. (Waldrop, 2013) (Tet. Star Child x Lydia s Regal Robe). Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 29 tall, 4-way branching, 15 buds, 4.4 flower. This flower is packed with the power of conversions. Obviously, the pod parent is the conversion, Tet. Star Child, and one-half of the parentage of the pollen parent is Tet. Indian Giver. Its plant habit is like its pollen parent, LYDIA S REGAL ROBE, in that it almost always opens without imperfections. I particularly like the lovely purple color and the darker eye, along with the intricate green throat. The ivory edges on both the petals and sepals are very distinctive. Pod and Pollen fertile. TWENTY CARROT. (Waldrop, 2012) (Varsity Orange x Ram). Dormant. Tet. M. 38 tall, 5-6 way branching, 34 buds, 7 flower. All gold in color. Diana Rae named this daylily, and I used her name suggestion because we never see 20 carat jewelry, and the use of the word carrot, was just the perfect homonym. This daylily is significant because of its height, branching, and bud count. Pod and pollen fertile. VIRGIL S SUSPENDERS. (Waldrop, 2010) (Tet. Indian Giver x Wild and Free). Unusual form. SEV. Mid-season bloom. Tetraploid. 38 tall, 3-way branching, 16 buds, 7 flower. The petals and sepals have cascading curls, it is very tall, and it stands the weather very well. VIRGIL S SUSPENDERS has a green throat, a light burgundy eye, and then a darker burgundy color over both its petals and sepals. Importantly, VIRGIL S SUSPENDERS also has a distinct ivory edge on its petals and sepals. In naming this daylily, I am honoring my friend Virgil Spence who was a large man who wore suspenders. Virgil had a big laugh, and a wonderful sense of adventure. I tried a case with Virgil, and then we talked about the case for many years. I miss Virgil, and so I m using his name for this outstanding daylily. Pod and pollen fertile. $ HOTLANTA HOTLANTA (Waldrop 2014) Tet. While many daylilies in this colour class do not stand up well to hot days EDNA CRUMBACK does better than most dayliles in this colour class. EDNA CRUMBACK inherits a lot of colour staying power from KENORA WILDFIRE one of our finest introductions as well as one of our finest parents. A special very vigorous and very healthy plant. 10 77 HARMONY ROAD HARMONY ROAD (Culver, 2013) TET - 34" - MLa -8" A deep lavender purple with a lighter watermark above a large bright green throat. Sev., 3 way branching; bud count 20+; Reg (HOLLYWOOD CALLING X EVA JANINE). As both a first and second year blooming seedling HARMONY ROAD stood out among the many daylilies blooming in the seedling field. After it was selected as a possible future introduction, after its second year of blooming, it has also stood out in our select seedling section as well. HARMONY ROAD'S large unusual formed rich coloured flower and great plant habit made a big impression on myself and some of our visitors to the gardens. It is just a great healthy plant with this big clear lavender-purple colour. Its big green throat just shines in full sun. Fertile both ways. Limited 78 INSPIRATION ROAD INSPIRATION ROAD (Culver, 2014) A bright clear lavender-mauve blend above a prominent green throat. Ext.; SEv.; 3 way branching; bud count 20; Reg (EVA JANINE X HOLLYWOOD CALLING). This is a full sibling to HARMONY ROAD and has proven itself to be just as good a plant as its full sibling. INSPIRATION ROAD is one of the most consistent performing daylilies in our collection, typically covered with blooms throughout its long bloom season. One is drawn to this daylily by its very clear bright-coloured large flower. A standout daylily that could readily be used in a UF hybridizing program. Fertile both ways. 79 MIND THAT BIRD MIND THAT BIRD (Culver, 2013) TET - 40" - MLa -7.5" A narrow formed bright Lilac-mauve blend with a lighter watermark above a large vivid green throat that flows both into the petals and sepals of the flower. Sev.; 3-4 way branching; bud count 30+; Reg (CATCH THE WIND X HOLLYWOOD CALLING). MIND THAT BIRD is the largest and most unusual narrow formed daylily I have introduced. With its impressive height MIND THAT BIRD stands out in the flower bed. Not only is it tall it is also very floriferous with well branched scapes that show off the very large flowers exceptionally well. Great clear colour also adds to its attractiveness in the garden. It bounces back from dividing very fast and it is a wonderful garden plant. Fertile both ways. Limited 80 Culver Collection #1 - The "White" collection BARBARA WHITE (Culver, 2007) TET - 30" - EM - 7" Ruffled baby ribbon pink self with a vivid green throat. Ext.; Sev.; 3 way branching; bud count 18. (DUNEDIN X JADE PRINCESS). This daylily is named after a very good friend of mine. Barbara decided on this big 7 inch, diamond dusted, baby ribbon pink daylily to be her namesake. Huge flower and clarity of colour along with its big green throat. Pollen is very fertile, pods are a bit difficult, although it will set a few pods. NICK WHITE (Culver, 2013) TET -36"-MLa-6" A blend of melon-gold with a heavy ruffled gold edge above a green throat. Ext; Dor.; 3 way branching; bud count 25+; (VICTORIA PARK X JOY TO THE WORLD) This daylily is named after a close friend. This daylily combines the vigour and plant habit of our VICTORIA PARK along with the good plant habit and clean clear colours of Brother Charles's daylily lines through Roy Klehm's intro JOY TO THE WORLD. NICK WHITE is a heavily substanced flower that looks just as good late in the day as it does first thing in the morning. Easily fertile both ways. ELIZABETH WHITE (Culver, 2012) TET - 31" MLa - 7" A ruffled bright clear coloured rose-pink with a lighter watermark above a bright green throat. Ext.; Ev.; 3 way branching; bud count 15-20; (BETTY DEVEREAUX X BARBARA WHITE). This daylily is named after a dear daughter of our dear friends Barbara and Nick White. The rose-pink colour is bright, clear and saturated. Its bright exploding green throat flows both in the petals and the sepals. If there is a fault it is the evergreen plant habit. In the very early spring ELIZABETH WHITE will look quite mussy as it comes out of winter but recovers fast and grows well once the weather starts to warm up. Fertile both ways. 11 81 Culver Collection #2 - The "Pink" collection 82 EGYPTIAN ENCRYPTION 83 ROOM FULL OF MIRRORS 84 BEHOLD THE LAMB 85 DANCING TO A FLUTE JANE CAMPBELL (Culver, 2009) TET MLa - 5 Jane Campbell is named in honour of a dear cousin of mine, and is a ruffled pink self with a bright green throat. Ext.; Dor.; 3 way branching; bud count 22+ (MARION CAMPBELL x 287C) Full sib to LINDA SPOONER and has a more salmon-pink colour. If you want a vigorous hardy northern bred dormant that puts on a good show in the garden, this is one of the best. Pollen is very easy to use. DIANE CRAWFORD (Culver, 2007) TET - 36" - MLa - 5 1/2" Ruffled watermelon pink blend above a green throat. Ext.; Sev.; 4 way branching; bud count of 25. (MARION CAMPBELL X JOAN DERIFIELD) Named in honour of one of the Ontario Daylily Society's founding members. DIANE CRAWFORD, the daylily, combines the great plant habits of MARION CAMPBELL and the clarity and purity of colour of Curt Hanson's multiple award winning JOAN DERIFIELD. The flowers are a nice blend of rose/pink and open well each day. Because of the height of scape the flowers show off very well in the garden. Fertile both ways. LINDA SPOONER (Culver, 2009) TET - 32" - MLa - 5" A peach-pink self with a slight gold edge above a large vivid green throat. Ext.; Dormant; 3-4 way branching; bud count 30+; MARION CAMPBELL X 287C) This daylily is named after one of my cousins and is the daughter of our 2008 introduction Marion Campbell. LINDA SPOONER is a bright sharp clean coloured daylily that blooms with multiple flowers each day over a long bloom season. One that many visitors were attracted to the last few bloom seasons. Fertile both ways. Easy as a pollen parent, but a somewhat difficult pod parent. EGYPTIAN ENCRYPTION (2014 Faulkner) Diploid Height 22"---4-way branching--22 buds, 5" flower with complex pattern in the eye, very fertile. "Egyptian Encryption" is the third sib. of this particular cross to be introduced. "Picassos' Paint Brush" and "Psychedelicious" are the other two with the same pedigree. For those hybridizers who are interested in producing multi-plex eyes in their patterns I would recommend line-breeding. I've done this the past 5 years with incredible results. Larger plants, better plant habit, bigger flowers and better colors. As with its' other two sibs it take a year or so to get established, but worth the wait. ROOM FULL OF MIRRORS (2014 Faulkner) diploid Height 31"---3-way branching & 14 buds. 4.5" flower with bluish purple very round etched eye, fertile both ways. Height 28"---3-way branching with 16 buds, 4.5" flower with creamy orange/pink background and a large purple/pink patterned eye etched irregularly in red giving a lightening bolt effect. Named for a very famous later 19th century Hopi Indian lady who single-handedly changed the face of pattery in her tribe. She was a visionary and her works today demand the highest prices for pottery. What I didn't expect to get were a variety of bi-tones of various colors. "Switched at Birth" turned out to be the best pick of the bunch, heavy substance, showing a light violet patterning in the eye; something I'd been trying to get crossing bi-colors but not having much luck. Fertile both ways "Switched at Birth" has been throwing some magnificent bi-colors and even reverse bi-colors. The 5" flower is distinct in the display bed as well. Diploid.
