5 ALACHATI WINES Turkey has an ancient winemaking history stretching back millennia, well before the classic civilisations of Greece and Rome helped to cement the popularity of wine as a cultural cornerstone. Like Italy, Turkey benefits from a vast number of indigenous grape varieties, althoughh many of the varieties are unknown to wine lovers beyond Turkey s borders. Varieties such as Kalecik Karası and Narince, occasionally blendedd with international varieties, appear on many labels and really showcase the diversity on offer.

6 - RED WINES - LIGHT & FRUITY G 1/2 B 16 Sevilen Nativus Kalecik Karasi Kalecik, Mid North Anatolia, Turkey Plato Kalecik Karasi Kalecik, Mid North Anatolia, Turkey 64 Kalecik Karasi (KK for short) is its key red variety, showing similarities to Pinot Noir with its light body and bright autumnal and bakewell tart like notes. KK tends to have more structure than Pinot, however, which has been bolstered here by 10 months in French barriques that lend textural tannins from the oak. 15 Pasaeli 6N Karasakiz / Merlot Canakkale, Gallipoli, Aegean Turkey 74 Pasaeli, founded by Seyit Karagözoglu in 2000, was a real discovery at the recent Wines of Turkey tasting in London with wines from both international and indigenous varieties showing real personality. This is a blend of both; 18% Merlot with 82% Karasakiz (which translates as black chewing gum ). There are only 50 hectares of the latter in the whole of Turkey, planted near the ruins of Troy at an altitude of 550 metres on Mount Ida. It is aged for six months in French and US oak. The medium bodied palate combines sour cherry, rosehip and balsamic vinegar flavours alongside a tart, lip smacking acidity and a forest floor finish. Suvla, Blush Karasakiz Gallipoli, Aegean Turkey (GOLD Medal Winner 2018 Melbourne International Wine Competition) The nose is fresh and fragrant with a hint of balsamic. Soft and round, reminiscent of a young pinot noir with intense plum/strawberry notes with bits of fligs dusted in dried herbs SPICY & BOLD G 1/2 B 15 2 nd Parcel Sevilen Merlot Menderes, Aegean Turkey The Seville Sevilentepe Parsel No: II Merlot was only vinified by the grapes grown in the 2nd parcel of 11 plots of 'Sevilentepe' vineyards. The Seville Sevilentepe Parsel No: II Merlot reproduces all the basic characteristics of the grape variety Merlot both in terms of color and aroma. BOLDER & EARTHY G 1/2 B 16 Majestik Syrah /Kalecik Karasi Izmir, Aegean Turkey Red And Black Fruit With A Herbal Undertone, Juicy And Firm With Ripe Fruit. In Balance With Serious Backbone 15 Sevilen Parcel 1 Syrah Sevilentepe, Aegean Turkey IX'th Parcel Cabernet Sauv Menderes, Aegean Turkey A generous melange of ripe intense berries on the nose layered with earthy mineral tones and attractive rosemary and thyme herbaceous complexity. Smooth, medium bodied entry with intense juicy red and blackberry flavours that are in perfect harmony with well defined yet restrained ripe tannin. Everyway cooked red and white meat, aged cheeses, such as cheddar ß15 Plato Okuzgozu / Syrah Denizli, Aegean Turkey 68 Town Denizli Guney Village Asagicesme in the Anatolian Plateau, the vineyard is at a height between 700 meters 900 meters continental climatic conditions, soil type calcarious chalks & stony struckture Okuzgozu & Syrah grapes harvested by hand, aged in french oak 225 litres barres 12 months.

The wine is a varietal of Petit Verdot grapes grown at the Sevilen Wines Guney Plateau vineyard located in Denizli. It has a strong flavor in addition to its elegantand medium length taste. It is matured for 14 months in French oak casks and in bottles for 12 months. 14 Centum Syrah Guney, Aegean Turkey This Wine Has A Palate With Intense Blueberry And Blackberry Flavors Accompanied By A Blend Of Smoked Meat, Caramel, Zwieback Savors And A Vivid Mineral Trace. You ll Definitely Wish For More After The Last Drop Of This Unique Tasting Wine Cabernet Sauv Gallipoli, Aegean Turkey 88 A new Cabernet Sauvignon was born out of the first produce of a special vineyard located 900 meters above the sea level. Sevilen 900 owes its intense, yet elegant taste, complete with soft tannins, to the concentration of the grapes ripening for a relatively longer period due to the climatic conditions of higher elevations. Sevilen 900 is first matured for 14 months in French oak casks, and then 12 months in bottles, which offers a refined experience with a long lasting aromatic and silkytaste 15 Suvla Syrah Gallipoli, Aegean Turkey 91 Intense red wine with fragrant aromas of dried fig, black olive with layers of spices, vanilla and laurel. 8 - WHITE WINES - LIGHT, FRESH & CRISP G 1/2 B 13 Nativus Narince Tokat, Mid East Anatolia Turkey Intense, mineral with notes of white ripe peach and apricot, our Narince (indigenous variety from Anatolia ) is very seductive and full of freshness.lush and ample, with slightly lower acidity than our Sauvignon Blanc, it develops a creamy texture and a long persistency, anew white wine in Sevilen range of personality 17 Suvla Kinali Yapincak Gallipoli, Aegean Turkey The indigenous variety Kinali yapincak is unique to the region. This wine has an elegant freshness coming from the high attitude villages where the grapes are grown. It has pale straw yellow colour. White peach, pastry and white flowers are dominating together with the hints of wet flint stone and penut. The plate is supple, creamy and crispy. 15 Pasaeli, Sofukoy Yapincak Tekirdag, Marmara Turkey 70 Light gold color; On the nose citrusy lemon and milk cream with some linden notes. LUSH & VIVID G 1/2 B 16 Isabey Chardonnay Menderes, Aegean Turkey A single grape & a single vineyard production" within the concept of a limited number were produced from Chardonnay grapes Dry white wine with plain, mineral and fresh aromas and vivid acidity characteristic of Chardonnay delivering tropical fruit flavours on the palate Fume Blanc Guney, Aegean Turkey 74 I would strongly suggest you arm yourself with many bottles of Sevilen, 900 Fume Blanc. This is a bone dry, super refreshing Sauvignon Blanc grown on the limestone/clay of the Guney Plateau inland from Izmir and would be an absolute godsend on a hot day in Turkey. It reminds me rather of PHI Sauvignon Blanc from a particularly cool part of the Yarra Valley. Searing acidity, butalso have quite enough fruit as well.

Enjoy chilled with great friends. 13 Sevilen Late Harvest Muscat Aydin, Aegean Turkey Produced from Bornova Muscat, which is a special and original grape of the Izmir province of the Aegean Region, Sevilentepe Bornova Muscat vineyard harvest is produced during the 1st or 2nd week of November depending on climate conditions. The grapes are then fermented in French oak barrels through direct crushing. After 12 months of maturation in oak barrels, the 50 cl is bottled and the maturation is performed for 1 month. 15 Wirra Wirra Mrs Wigley Moscato McLaren Vale, Australia Made from 100% Red Frontignac, the Wirra Wirra Mrs Wigley is a delightfully fresh and exciting Moscato that has intense flavours of musk, melon and lychee that flood the palate.
