2 Wines for Christmas 2017 Parties, Winter Drinking & Presents We are delighted to present our selection of wines for drinking and giving this Christmas. For the first time, this Christmas brochure draws attention to wines from our list that are ideal for parties and winter drinking, including mixed cases for you to enjoy over the festive season. These are followed by our classic range of presents: ready-made, six and twelve bottle mixed cases to suit all budgets and tastes (prices include packaging and delivery). Let us make Christmas easy for you! Full details of how to order and delivery are on page 18. Please place your orders before Wednesday 13th December to ensure delivery in time for Christmas. This brochure includes some of our favourite wines, however we would be pleased to make other recommendations or tailor-make any presents to your specific requirements. 5 SPARKLING Vetriano Prosecco Spumante Brut, Italy NV 12b Here is a brilliant party wine. Streaked with tiny bubbles, this lively Prosecco has delicate, green apple and floral aromas, a dry, fresh palate, and excellent length. P A R T I E S WHITE Ladera Verde Chardonnay Central Valley, Chile b This un-oaked, lemon-scented Chardonnay is light in body, precise in its fruit flavours and has a crisp, vivacious finish. Freedom Cross Chenin Blanc Franschhoek Cellar, South Africa b This is a bright, vibrantly fruity wine that is packed with citrusy freshness. Chenin Blanc thrives in South Africa, and this particular example offers stunning value for money. RED Lautarul Pinot Noir Cramele Recas, Romania b From vines located on the far western fringes of Romania s Transylvania/Banat region, this fruit-driven Pinot Noir is a juicy, red cherry-scented wine. Ths finish is fresh and satisfying. Malbec Las Pampas Mendoza, Argentina b Grown on the foothills of the Andes, this Argentinean red has a charming, supple character, appetising black cherry flavours and a pleasing, rounded finish. 7 W I N T E R D R I N K I N G Elegant Whites Rully Montagne La Folie Claudie Jobard b Claudie Jobard makes precise white burgundies which never fail to give pleasure, and also offer mouth-watering value for money. This wine comes from a hillside vineyard to Rully s north, lying just below First Growth Clos du Chaigne. The land is pebble rich and quite steep, always one of Claudie s first vineyards to ripen. Pale, lemon-gold in colour, it has open, ripe aromas and shows charming fruitiness, with gentle, fresh aftertaste. Pinot Bianco Kellerei Kurtatsch, Alto Adige b Based in Italy s mountainous Alto Adige region, Kellerei Kurtatsch makes pure, elegant wines - this 2016 Pinot Bianco is like a breath of fresh, mountain air. Nose is gently aromatic, with notes of honeysuckle, white pepper and ripe lemons. Palate is light and linear, with gorgeous flavours that recall tarte au citron and green apples. Texture is silky, the finish being beautifully crisp and long. Chablis Domaine Daniel Dampt b Daniel Dampt makes pristine wines, which have the classic mineral style of Chablis at their core. 6m The 2015 is a beautifully balanced wine, the aromas being ripe, the palate richly built. Floral and 24h refreshing in character, this is a creamy, finely textured wine with a super-clean, dry finish. 9 W I N T E R D R I N K I N G Pinot Noir Sancerre Rouge Terre de Maimbray Pascal & Nicolas Reverdy b Red Sancerre is often a lighter, fresher version of red burgundy. Here, thanks to rigorous vineyard work to keep low yields and fully ripen the grapes, the Reverdy Sancerre is a beautifully rich and fleshy wine. Colour is pale to mid ruby, aromas being bright, with notes of red cherries, raspberries and attractive, black pepper spice. Palate is medium bodied and pure. This has wonderful vibrance, the finish being clean and with gentle tannins. Greenhough Pinot Noir Nelson, New Zealand b Greenhough s excellent, organic Pinot Noir is a particular beauty in the 2015 vintage. Bright, mid ruby colour, aromas are open and lively, with notes of spiced red cherries and fresh strawberries. This is a full bodied, fleshy style, having striking fruitiness, a supple texture, fine structure and a balanced, smooth finish. Santenay 1er Cru Clos de la Comme Domaine Françoise & Denis Clair b The Clos de la Comme is the oldest vineyard in the Clair Domaine, the vines being 65 years of age. The vineyard lies in a well-protected sweet spot halfway up the slope, not far from the commune boundary with Chassagne-Montrachet. Colour is purple-ruby of medium depth, the nose being lively and pungent. Palate is full, rich and charming, with great elegance and gentle aftertaste. 11 W I N T E R D R I N K I N G Claret Château Tour Bel Air Montagne-Saint-Emilion b Located 5km north of the town of Saint-Emilion, it is a delight to have found this delicious wine from the satellite appellation of Montagne-Saint-Emilion. 70% Merlot brings juiciness of fruit, the 30% Cabernet Sauvignon contributes complexity of perfume and brightness of mouthfeel to the blend. This is an elegant, full-yet-lively, cherry and cassis scented wine. The finish is bouncy and refreshing. Château La Gorce Cru Bourgeois Médoc b Situated north of Saint-Estèphe, close to the banks of the Gironde Estuary, La Gorce produces a 6m classic Médoc of great richness and depth. Mid ruby-garnet colour, the aromas of this 2012 are attractive and complex, recalling blackcurrants, spice and licorice. This is a full-bodied, creamily textured wine, with good concentration of spicy fruit flavour, balanced tannins, and a long finish. Château Chantalouette Pomerol b It is thanks to the expertise and dedication of the Jean-Pierre Moueix wine-making and vineyard teams that we are able to bring you this mature, beautiful Pomerol at such a competitive price. The 2011 Chantalouette is the most charming of styles. Nose is spicy, scented and complex, the palate silky-smooth, all curves, built for pleasure. We warmly recommend this splendid bottle. 12 W I N T E R D R I N K I N G Exceptional Champagne Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve NV 6b In time for Christmas and New Year celebrations, we are 3m thrilled to have made another shipment from Charles Heidsieck in Reims. Our direct link with the House has allowed us to retain our incredibly competitive price, and ensured that we have ample stock of magnums of this exceptional champagne. Wines from no fewer than 60 different crus go into this assemblage, one third each coming from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. 40% of the blend comes from aged reserve wine (much higher than seen elsewhere). These factors, along with the long, six year maturation in bottle, explains the intense flavour complexity, sensuous texture and superbly fresh length of this Non-Vintage champagne. With apricot, toasted hazelnut and honey aromas, this is expressive, precise, and palate-cleansing. 11

13 W I N T E R D R I N K I N G Stunning Sauternes DV by Château Doisy-Vedrines Sauternes b The second wine of Ch Doisy-Vedrines, this delicious 2011 DV by Doisy-Vedrines has a glistening, pale lemon-green colour, the nose being scented and fine, recalling sweet, spiced citrus peel and ripe peach. Palate is very clean, full and harmonious, combining luscious sweetness, suave, creamy textures and lifted, lemony flavours. The finish is lively, bright and refreshing (for drinking ). DV by Château Doisy-Vedrines Sauternes h The 2013 DV has bright lemon-green colour, with attractive, open aromas, reminiscent of sweet pineapple and spiced lemons. Palate is precise, linear and silky, being light of body, vivacious, and with good intensity of flavours. The finish is pure and long-flavoured (for drinking ).
