3 OUR WINE JOURNEY Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. Italian wines are known worldwide for their broad variety with grapes harvested in almost every region of the country. As you can see from the map on the opposite page - the extensive latitudinal range of the country permits wine growing all the way from the Alps in the North bordering France, Switzerland and Austria to almost-within-sight of Africa in the South. The fact that Italy is a peninsula with a long shoreline adjacent to both the Adriatic sea on one side to the Mediterranean sea on the other, contributes to moderating climates to the coastal wine regions. Extensive mountains and foothills provide many altitudes for grape growing and a variety of climate and soil conditions. We have divided the country up into three bite size chunks; North, Central and South & Islands, enabling you to understand the relationship between the terroir of the geographical location and the grape varietal you are drinking. Whether classic or indigenous, we want you to experience as many varietals as possible - offering an impressive selection of over 20 wines by the glass - allowing you travel with us region-by-region on our wine journey. Italy is perfectly formed to produce a dazzling array of memorable wines famed for their diversity. We are passionate about this and for your enjoyment, we have showcased the brilliance of Italian wine in an all Italian list.
