During a long period, Capriana monastery acted as the residence of the Moldavian archbishop. Legend says that once one of the old rock monastery s monks saw the glowing face of the Virgin Mary on one of the hills. When they reached the rock, the monks found in the stone a trail from the foot, which they perceived as evidence of the Divine purity of this place. Later the chapel was built there.
