Please join me in discovering all of the different producers, beginning with the very famous, up to the less known but equally appreciated ones. The selection of the wines is based on the most important regions which are both appreciated by the connoisseurs and many wine enthusiasts. PETITE ARVINE AOC Switzerland 51. Rouvinez, Sierre Valais An autochthonous grape variety from Canton Valais. Intense and persistent, reminiscent of typical Valais apricots on the palate. Excellent as an Apéro Riche accompaniment or with spicy starters. IL SAUVIGNON TI DOC Switzerland 53. Delea, Losone Sopraceneri Ticino An interesting Sauvignon grape from Canton Ticino. Powerful and structured with a long and elegant finish. Goes well with Asian starters or white meats. TERRE ALTE TI DOC Bianco di Merlot Switzerland 49. Gialdi, Mendrisio Sottoceneri Ticino This Ticino speciality is a white wine made from the Merlot grape. Interesting acidity and refreshing. Features the distinctive Merlot spiciness. SAUVIGNON BLANC RESERVA DO Chile 48. Montes, Santa Cruz San Antonio Made in the foothills of the Chilean Andes, this Sauvignon Blanc is light, lively and has a fresh fruit bouquet. An excellent choice as aperitif or with summery starters. ROSÉ WINES GRAN ROSÉ TI DOC Rosato di Merlot Switzerland 49. Brivio, Mendrisio Sottoceneri Ticino Red berries and a hint of minerals are characteristic of this special rosé wine that is made only in Canton Ticino. More than just a summery alternative to white or red wine. IL ROSÉ DI CASANOVA IGT Sangiovese/Prugnolo Gentile Italy 49. Monte del Frà, Sommacampagna Veneto Autochthonous grape varieties from the Veneto Region lend this Valpolicella its typical blackberry aromas with herbs, spices and finesse. Harmonious with risotto dishes, pork and beef. ROSSO TOSCANA IGT Sangiovese/Merlot/Petit Verdot/Alicante Italy 45. Caparzo, Caparzo Toscana This wine hails from the north of Montalcino and is a traditional cuvee with a modern twist. Fruity, light and elegant ideal with antipasti and lamb or as an aperitif. Talosa, Montepulciano Toscana An interesting cuvee lends this Tuscan classic its pleasant fruity aromas and well-rounded character. Powerful yet also well balanced. Goes exceptionally well with beef or venison. MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO DOC Italy 45. Ten. Agr. Masciarelli, San Martino sulla Marrucina Abruzzo This wonderfully powerful Montepulciano with dark berry aromas comes from the mineral soil of the Abruzzo Region. A balanced acidity and pleasant tannins make for a well-structured wine. Elegant, goes well with lamb and beef. PATÙ IGT Primitivo Italy 46. Tenuta Giustini, San Giorgio Jonico Puglia A typical Primitivo with plentiful red and black berries on the nose. Intense and fruity with velvety tannins. Ideal with Mediterranean dishes or as an aperitif. PLUMBAGO DOC Nero d'avola Italy 48. Planeta, Menfi Sicilia The plumbago, a purple-coloured wildflower that grows in woods surrounding the Ulmo vineyards, gives this single-variety Nero d'avola its name. A soft and fruity version of this grape variety with rounded tannins and perfectly measured wood aromas make for an immediately pleasing wine. SAINT COSME AC Syrah France 45. Château de Saint Cosme, Gigondas Côtes du Rhône Located in the south Rhône Valley, this Syrah brings forth beautiful aromas of dark berries, sour cherry and pepper. Goes well with grilled lamb or beef. CHÂTEAU CAMBON LA PELOUSE AC Merlot/Cab Sauv/Cab Franc France 64. Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Médoc A pleasant Bordeaux and an ideal introduction to the region. This wine is both powerful and full-bodied and features typical aromas of blackcurrant, plum and hints of tobacco. Goes well with lamb and beef dishes. Bodegas Fontana, Fuente de Pedro La Mancha This single-variety Tempranillo from Central Spain has an elegant and ripe fruit with well-incorporated tannins and a pleasantly spicy medium finish. CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVA DO Chile 45. Montes, Santa Cruz An elegant, single-variety Cabernet from the New World. Powerful and well balanced with an abundance of dark fruits: blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries and a pleasant freshness. Goes well with grilled meats such as beef, lamb and poultry. AMALAYA Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah/Tannat Argentina 45. Bodega Amalaya, Salta These grapes come from one of the world s highest-altitude vineyards, founded by the Swiss winemaker Donald Hess. Guigal Château d'ampuis, Ampuis Côtes du Rhône The northern Rhône Valley is the home of the Viognier grape that is characterised by its floral aromas of white petals. Brivio, Delea, Gialdi, Tamborini Ticino A gem from Canton Ticino. This magnificent wine uses only the best Merlot grapes and was created by the four winemakers Brivio, Delea, Gialdi and Tamborini. Beautifully structured and powerful. GRATTAMACCO SUPERIORE DOC Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Sangiovese Italy 156. Soc. Agr. Collemassari, Castagneto Carducci Toscana This superior representative of wines from Bolgheri need not fear comparison with its more famous neighbours. An exciting discovery. SYRAH IGT Italy 102. Planeta, Menfi Sicilia This Syrah is an Amarone DOCG from southern Italy. This wine is characterised by a powerful structure, rich fruit and elegant finish. Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Saint Estèphe A typical Saint Estèphe with strong dark berries, cedar and mineral notes, a long finish and pleasant freshness. Perfect with lamb and beef. Bodegas Hacienda Monasterio, Pesquera de Duero Ribera del Duero A leading Ribera del Duero wine, matured for 12 months in French oak barrels.
