2 ABOUT OUR BIERS MUNICH LAGER Brewed from an ancient German recipe right here in Victoria! Our master brewer has painstakingly followed every step to adhere to the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law). This Lager is unfiltered in the German Kellerbier style giving it the appearance of a pale ale. It is unpasteurized (non-heat treated) so that all the wonderful flavours remain. Our signature bier. HOFBRÄU Established in 1589, Hofbräu is known as the Bier of Kings! Hofbräu is a symbol of Munich s famous hospitality and rich tradition dating back many centuries. In 18, King Maximilian of Bavaria spared no expense when his son Ludwig married his beloved and held a massive party for 40,000 guests on October 17 starting the famous and long standing tradition Oktoberfest! Bier lovers the world over recognize Munich for its famous biers and conviviality. Hofbräu embodies the special atmosphere of the bier capital of the world and exports it to the four corners of the globe. HACKER-PSCHORR One of only 6 breweries permitted to showcase their brews at the annual Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, Hacker-Pschorr is a the result of a merger between 2 breweries; Hacker & Pschorr. The actual site of the Oktoberfest is on land donated to the city by Josef Pschorr, who was the Braumeister for the 1st ever Oktoberfest. PAULANER In 1627, a small order of monks migrated from Italy to what is now the city of Munich. There, the Pauline monks founded a monastery which later became the Paulaner brewery. Today the Paulaner brewery still stands on the original site that the Pauline monks founded more than 360 years ago. Forced to fast during the Lenten period on only bread and water, the enterprising monks reasoned that beer could be brewed as liquid bread and not violate their Lenten promise. Naturally Paulaner strictly adheres to the German Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516 that mandates bier consist only of malt, hops, yeast and water. FRANZISKANER Franziskaner is Munich s oldest privately owned brewery, dating back to The name is derived from the Franciscan monastery then located in the heart of town. The emblem of the monk reflects this long standing relationship. The tradition continues to this day with the Weissbier specialty, Franziskaner Weissbier. Thanks to a centuries-old brewing tradition and the highest standards in production, this monk represents one of the world s finest Weissbiers. STIEGL The Stiegl brewery of Salzburg was founded in Originally located in the center of town and known as The House By The Steps after the small steps down to the Alm Canal. In 1863 the brewery relocated to its present location, just outside the city walls. Our tradition obliges that only the best is good enough for the production of this exquisite bier. Today Stiegl is Austria s largest privately owned brewery and second largest brewing group. LÖWENBRÄU Crisp, complex and incredibly refreshing. This is a classic Bier with a heritage dating back to 1383 using water sourced from a natural aquifer 200m below ground and estimated to be around 40,000 years old. In fact, this water has now been certified as pure as mineral water. The Bier has a wonderful straw-yellow colour with a big, fluffy, white head. Tonnes of carbonation and lots of lacing (or cling on the glass) after every sip. There s some sweetsmelling pilsner malt in the aroma, along with very mild noble hops. Löwenbräu is a sweeter style of lager with a lingering aftertaste to be savoured. Clean, crisp and oh so refreshing. FÜRSTENBERG Bier from the Black Forest. From His Majesty s table beverage to today s modern brewery because of a history invested in tradition, the Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei is one of the leading breweries in Baden- Württemberg. The state-of-the-art brewery in Donaueschingen is one of the largest in Germany.
