The current name Tamsui is derived from the Tamsui River. The name Tamsui means "fresh water". The town is popular as a site for viewing sun sets over the Taiwan Strait. It plays a significant role in Taiwanese culture. Tamsui has a special geography and a beautiful landscape. Therefore, since ancients times, it has been among Taiwan s most popular landscapes. Take MRT red line called Tamsui line to Tamsui Station. From there, all destinations are within walking distance. The most famous dish in in Tamsui is named Iron Eggs. Check out the scenic views from Fisherman s Wharf. The pier is a popular place for locals to stroll. At night, it is a popular dating destination for teenagers. Lean against the fence enjoying the relaxing breezes and sights at the Tamsui River mouth. In the evening, this is the best place to watch the sunset. A park on the river s left bank. It can be reached by ferry. The park features biking trails. It is a great spot for picnics and outings with friends and family. The area s most famous ice cream street vendor. 5 Hongmao Castle (Fort San Domingo): Fort San Domingo was originally called "Santo Domingo City", built by the Spanish in the17th century. The Dutch defeated the Spaniards and seized the city, the Dutch called it "orange".
