From October 16 to November 30, all tenants in our QuadReal downtown buildings will have an exciting opportunity to participate in a contest that gives them a chance at three trips for two in celebration of Canada 150 while supporting our building retailers. Each trip will be to a different major city in Canada and the three winners will be selected in a draw on December 5. Tenants will receive a gaming card to be used when making a purchase from any of the participating retailers in any of our buildings, and once you have five stamps from purchases made, you can drop the card off in the ballot box at your building Security Desk.Hmm sound good? Stay tuned for more information! Recycling for a cleaner, greener, and more enjoyable workplace The protection and preservation of the environment in our buildings and the community is a core value at Intact Place. We are focused on fi nding and implementing recycling best practices, creating sustainable resources, familiarizing tenants with our sustainability program, and demonstrating ways in which you can help make your workplace a clean, green and more enjoyable space to work. We would like to remind you about recycling procedures in your building that you can help us with: Mixed Materials Our base building program includes individual desk side boxes supplied for mixed materials and large bins to be placed in central areas. Each employee is responsible for emptying their desk side box into a central large blue bin, which the janitorial staff will empty nightly (or when over half full). What goes to mixed recycling? All paper (accounted for 36% of the waste breakdown) Newspaper Flyers and mail Magazines Cardboard (all cardboard must be fl attened) Coffee cups and lids (separated) Plastics (#1-7) Tin cans (empty) Glass containers (empty) DO NOT INCLUDE: Food and liquids, polystyrene foam (sytrofoam), broken glass, plastic bowls, cutlery and straws with no # 1-7 and used facial tissue....continued on next page

2 AROUND Recycling for a cleaner, greener, and more enjoyable workplace (continued) Pop Cans and Bottles Program We can provide blue bins for can and bottle recycling, which will be emptied as required. Rinsed plastic and cardboard milk containers can also be disposed of in these bins. All proceeds from can and bottle recycling are donated to the Children s Wish Foundation which is a charitable organization dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. It costs $10, to support a wish and we have raised over $11, since the beginning of this year thanks to your participation in this program. All Tenants are welcome to arrange their own can and bottle recycling program. The following items are refundable: Plastic bottles (water and juice) Aluminum cans (0-1 litre) Plastic containers (PET & HDPE) Glass containers (must be clear) Gable top cartons Tetra paks Drink boxes and pouches Compost/Organics Compost bins are provided for each kitchen to collect coffee grounds and all food waste. Food waste that can be composted: Produce (fruits and vegetables) Bakery and dry goods (beans, rice, bread and cereal) Pasta Meats (all cooked and raw meat products including bones, shells, fish, beef and chicken) Dairy Floral (plants and flowers) Compostable food-ware (wooden utensils, paper plates and cups, coffee cups and lids (separate lid from the cup) Soiled paper goods (coffee grounds, tea bags, paper towels, napkins, uncoated takeout containers, cellulose films and salt, pepper and sugar paper packages) DO NOT INCLUDE: Glass, plastic packaging (plastic bowls, cutlery and straws with no #), polystyrene foam (styrofoam) and metal (including tin foil). Paper towel recycling: A paper towel recycling bin is provided in all base building washrooms. Please ensure that only clean paper towels are disposed of to prevent contamination. Waste Items that go to the waste bin: Plastic packaging Plastic utensils Soiled styrofoam Soiled facial tissues Extended Recycling Program A Recycling Centre is located on the main floor, in the hallway leading to the loading dock. Tenants are invited to bring down their recyclable items and place them in the appropriate labeled containers/bins. Acceptable materials include the following: Electronics: These include computers, printers, cell phones, cell phone chargers, monitors, and small personal electronics. Do not include: printer cartridges, cables and CDs (please dispose of them in the garbage compactor or include them with in the regular waste), or items that are larger than a microwave. 3 AROUND INTACT PLACE COOKS Canada Day Festivities On June 28, we invited all our tenants to join us at noon, in the Jamieson Place Winter Garden to help us celebrate Canada Day 150. We had a great turnout! Calgarian Annie Pattison sang our national anthem and the Calgary Police Services Pipe Band performed for us both making a wonderful contribution to our milestone celebration. Canada Day themed cupcakes were available to all those in attendance and also available in the lobbies of Livingston Place, BP Centre and Intact Place for those who were unable to attend the Winter Garden festivities. Thanksgiving Sweet Potato Casserole Ingredients: 4 cups sweet potatoes ½ cup white sugar 2 eggs, beaten ½ teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons butter, softened ½ cup milk ½ teaspoon vanilla extract ½ cup packed brown sugar 1/3 cup all purpose flour 3 tablespoons butter, softened ½ cup chopped pecans Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Put sweet potatoes in a medium saucepan with water to cover. Cook over medium high heat until tender; drain and mash. 2. In a large bowl, mix together the sweet potatoes, white sugar, eggs, salt, butter, milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Transfer to a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. 3. In medium bowl, mix the brown sugar and flour. Cut in the butter until the mixture is coarse. Stir in the pecans. Sprinkle the mixture over the sweet potato mixture. 4. Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until the topping is lightly brown. Recipe from Allrecipes.com 3

4 AROUND Jacket Racket Drive Jacket Racket is a Calgary program that has been providing clean, gently used winter jackets to Calgary children since The project runs every year from mid-october to mid-november. Coats, snow pants, hats and mittens are collected, sorted and distributed by a group of dedicated volunteers. The distribution is done through the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District. We have scheduled a Jacket Racket Drive from October 9 to October 20. Please bring in your jackets, ski pants, hats and mitts in good clean condition and we will donate them for distribution throughout the school system and emergency shelters. Tenant Stampede Breakfast This year s Tenant Stampede Breakfast took place on July 13 in the park adjacent to the building. Everyone enjoyed delicious food, great entertainment and the western atmosphere! More than $1,200 was raised during our Stampede events and QuadReal Property Group LP was pleased to donate the funds raised to Children s Cottage Society, an organization that is committed to preventing harm and neglect to all children and building strong families through support services, respite programs and crisis nurseries. Thank you all for your continuous support and generosity! As always, the event was a Zero Waste event, using compostable plates, cups, and utensils. 4 Don t miss the Winter Market at Jamieson Place Our next Winter Market will take place on November 28, from 10 am to 2 pm in the Jamieson Place Winter Garden, Second Level, Ave SW. A variety of vendors will provide an early start to your holiday shopping with art, crafts, desserts, meats, and much more available for purchase.
