3 A potted history The Early Days The Maxwell family have been dairy farmers at Doddington in Northumberland for over 50 years, after moving from the west of Scotland. During the early 1990 s Neill, and his sister Margaret-Ann, used the raw milk to diversify into a specialist raw milk cheese business. Then in 1998 Neill, and wife Jackie, realised that difficulties continued to face dairy farmers and decided that they wanted to be in control of their own destiny. Against a background of falling milk prices Neill and Jackie started to experiment with ice cream recipes and, from their research, realised that not only could they produce superb ice cream but that there was no other company producing hand made ice cream, on a farm, between Yorkshire and Aberdeenshire. Thus Doddington Dairy Ice Cream was launched in August The Ice Cream People Members of the Maxwell family are involved in the whole ice cream making process from feeding and milking the cows, through to hand selecting and mixing the ingredients, then to packaging and delivering the ice cream. We believe that this personal commitment gives our customer the finest quality product and 100% service at all times. All ice cream cartons carry the distinctive Doddington Dairy branding, with the 120ml and 500ml core range of cartons carrying cartoon characters based on the adventures of the Doddington Dairy family. Our biggest asset is our people and everyone is involved in developing the business direction. Doddington Dairy uses a combination of in-house staff training and external formalised courses (particularly related to food hygiene). Our aim is to produce quality products from only the best of ingredients - fully traceable from farm to freezer The Farm Situated in the beautiful Glendale Valley, overlooked by the Cheviot Hills, North Doddington is a traditional Northumbrian mixed farm. In the cool, clean air of the valley the dairy cows are able to happily graze and produce the fresh whole milk for the cheeses and ice creams of the Doddington Dairy. A sheep flock and some cereal enterprises complement the dairy farm. The working farm is tenanted by the Maxwell farmily and is owned by Greenwich Hospital Estates. This ensures jobs for 5 people on the farm, and 8 full time and 4 part time in the Doddington Dairy ice cream and cheese enterprises.

5 Fabulous Doddy Diddies 120ml Diddies Available in boxes of 12 Simply Vanilla Real Vanilla seeds are added to flavour this ice cream resulting in a truly authentic vanilla taste. Utter Chocolate Using the finest west African cocoa beans and real chocolate resulting in a uniquely rich chocolate ice cream. Real Strawberry Real strawberries give the freshest of strawberry tastes (no artificial flavours here). Double Ginger A subtle, but very distinctive, stem ginger flavour is enhanced with ground ginger in our rich creamy ice cream. Rip roaring Raspberry Heaps of ripe raspberries mixed with smooth ice cream create a luscious texture combined with a distinctive taste. Mint & Dark Chocolate Naturally coloured cool mint ice cream with rich dark chocolate chips. Individual 120ml cartons contain a spoon in the lid.

6 We ve been hard at work recreating some of the flavours that the Roman Britons may have tasted hundreds of year ago! We added Apple & Cinnamon, Cherry and Heather Honey to our award winning dairy herd s full fat milk and after many small changes we hit on the perfect mix. Seasonal variations such as Yuletide Pudding and Mulled Wine appear regularly.

8 Taste of the North East Doddington Dairy have become know for their innovative and regional flavours The launch of the Newcastle Brown flavour in 2003 made national and world news. Since this time regional alliances have been formed between Doddington Dairy and other brands. Examples include Chainbridge Heather Honey and Alnwick Rum Truffle, both of which Doddington Dairy have introduced in small branded cartons for the tourist market, as well as being available in catering packs for restaurants and hotels. Regional and Bespoke Flavours Regional flavours are of interest to tourists as well as those from the area and create interest in food from the region. The Percy Special ice cream based on a traditional Northumbrian winter drink of whisky, cherries and cherry liqueur proves popular during winter months in many hotels and restaurants. For larger customers we are able to provide bespoke flavours, indeed The Sage Gateshead are probably the only music venue in the UK with it s own bespoke ice cream flavour Coconut and Pineapple Sage. For some customers we have created their own range of ice creams in cartons designed specially for them. The Alnwick Garden have flavours specifically created for certain areas of Garden. Orchid Vanilla for the Ornamental Garden, Death by Chocolate the for the Poison Garden, Fruits of the Forest for the Treehouse and Alnwick Rose for the Rose Garden.
